If we can spend 7.4m on an unknown striker when clearly that position isnt as vunerable as midfield, then surely we must have something lined up to bolster the midfield?

unless SAF thinks this kid is the midfield answer?

Don't panic everyone. When we sell "Bebe" to Real Madrid for £80 million, all will be forgiven. ;)

This thread is embarrassing some of the posts in, really, really is.

People have actually said he's overpriced? Without seeing him kick a ball.

People have said we should have signed a midfielder? Maybe this fella was too bloody good to pass up and 7 million in today's Market is hardly huge.

The point is he's own relatively unknown to us. I'm sure SAF and CQ know plenty about him. Just because he's unknown means jackshit as far as I'm concerned.

About time the foster and tosic money was reinvested maybe fergie has killed two birds with one stone and intends to play him in midfield.
Took me by surprise along with everyone else, could this mean berbatov going to werder bremen and ozil coming to us this would balance the books perfectly and cost us nothing ?

agree... its not as if we are angry, its just we are a little bit clueless. i mean, 7.4m for someone who has only ever played in the 3rd tier of the portuguese league... we are allowed to be a smidge sceptical...

but, we are all or course excited and eager to see what the boy can do

Looks like he loves to whip a cross in rather than slip a through-ball - but that's from limited footage....

I reckon lack of strength in depth partly did us last season....

If he was labelled as an attacking midfielder rather than a striker, i reckon the reaction would have been a lot different.
Reading about his skills and seeing those vids, he could very well be bought for that role.

When is SAF next press conference?

Quite possible, Dave but you have to admit, buying another striker is very, very strange. We already have Rooney, Berba, Hernandez, Owen, Macheda, Diouf, Welbeck with talented youngsters like King, Keane coming through as well....

I trust Fergie though I will say the last "gem" of a striker that Queiroz unearthed for United was Manucho.

I will wait and see and watch him play before passing judgement as none of us on here can say anything yet considering no-one has seen him yet.

Finally we sign somebody with a decent haircut. Our last 5 signings were all boring. Valencia, Hernandez, Obertan, Smalling and Owen. None of them had a swag about their hair.

Strange or not you have to admit the strikers we have aren't totally up to the level we need. Diouf, Macheda and Welbeck are all very doubtful that they are good enough to play for the club weekly. I think if the Glazers were keeping the purse to tightly gripped none of the three would be near the team. There all at an age where they should be pushing first team and considering how poor we were last season I dunno if they ever will. Bebe might be though.

For me, Wellbeck's never really looked comfortable playing on the wing, he'll do a job obviously, but never looked at home.
This dude looks like he might.
