One of the the most debated players on the site. He's past inconsistency have led fans to be highly critical of him. There is no denying though what an amazing technically gifted athlete our boy Nani is. He has to some extent filled the void that has been left by Ronaldo in the past year. His goals and assist have been fundamental from the club.

He's now on the back of his best season ever at the club in which he was probably our best player and driving force behind our success. Alas, this year will be a very interesting one for our winger. He has now even more competition with the arrival of Ashley Young and has Antonio Valencia occupying his favored right wing position.

Could Nani be pushed down the pecking order this year? Could Nani be used through the middle in a central midfield role this year like he has done with Sporting in the past? Could Nani be sold before the end of the transfer window with clubs like AC Milan among others interested in Nani. Who knows? Interesting times ahead.

where did you hear Milan were interested in him? Milan don't use wingers, at all, so he'd be a waste of money for them... (likewise Inter but to a lesser extent, if you meant them?)

Anyway, I'm one of the few who likes Nani and have liked him for a while, he delighted me last season and made me enjoy voting "yes I still have faith" in that poll about him a while back, and I hope for more of the same, I can't see him going anywhere anyway

I read it in some tabloid. I don't think he'll go either btw.

What do people make of him maybe playing through the middle?

definitely not in central midfield, I could see him having a degree of success in the center - but he'd be like Young playing there, and that's Rooney's best position anyway, so I don't think it's an area worth exploring to be honest.

Nani could play anywhere up front. On the wings, through the middle, I think he'd be great in the #10 role.

Interesting one here fellas and girls, with the signing of Young and competition from Valencia, do you think Nani will be first choice next season? What kind of way do you think will be our best combo?

I think Nani and Young are very similar so it's a strange signing. I have seen others reckon that Nani could be used as enticing a deal for some other top player. In the perfect world, I reckon Nani and Young would probably be the best partnership. Both are sensational at producing moments of magic in scoring and creating goals. Valencia offers something that the other two won't, first class workrate and quality delivery at all times.

So question I guess, in our bigger games next season who do you think will be our first choice combo or prefer first choice pair?

Nani and Young are different. Ashley Young dribbles at pace and is far more likely to put a cross in. Nani is much more unpredictable.

We'll get an idea of who we should play when we've watched them in pre season. Valencia will probably miss most of our friendlies so that put's Young in the drivers seat.

My point wasn't their playing style. Nani and Young are capable of moments of brilliance whereas Valencia is more 'solid'.

So you think Nani is first choice atm?

I think Nani and Young will start because Valencia won't be match fit.

This is like pulling teeth. You have all three fit(crazy, insane hypothetical situation), who would you choose?

I don't agree here. I think Young is the most "Solid", as he has probably the best and most consistent delivery in the EPL. His crosses are awesome.

Nani starts 90% of the games and is treated like a key player, or I riot.

Solid in the sense, he's going to put in a shift and really help on the defensive side of things aswell. Also, you know of top of the worrate you will get at least a 7/10 performance from him. With Nani and Young some days they can be poor but others they can be breathtaking.
