If we are going for another striker (which we don't need) then I like the kid Munain at Atletico Bilbao. Amazing workrate, reminds me a lot of Wayne.

Mexicans plays hardball as Man Utd chase Marco Fabian

United want midfielder to play alongside compatriot Javier Hernandez

MEXICAN hitman Marco Fabian is not for sale, according to Chivas president Jorge Vergara. The 22-year-old midfielder is wanted by both Manchester United and Barcelona after a string of sparkling performances for club and country, but Vergara has vowed to fight off the two European powerhouses.

According to goal.com, Fabian has been instrumental in guiding Chivas to the top of the Mexican championship and United are desperate to bring him to Old Trafford where he could play alongside compatriot Javier Hernandez. Barcelona are also interested after Fabian scored twice against them in a pre-season friendly.

One sticking point for United might be obtaining a work permit, and another might be the attitude of president Vergara. "We're not interested in selling him," Vergara told Goal.com. "Marco has a contract for five years... He is a big part of our future." However, were United or Barcelona to offer Chivas a regal amount of cash come January, then perhaps Vergara might change his mind.

Talking of changing one's mind, Talksport claims that Tottenham have done just that over Atletic Madrid star Fernando Llorente. Apparently Harry Redknapp first expressed an interested in the Spanish striker last summer, but settled instead for former Arsenal frontman Emmanuel Adebayor. Good though Adebayor's been for the Lilywhites, his weekly pay packet of £170,000 means he's unlikely to be retained when his loan deal expires in May.

As a result, Redknapp has apparently decided to have another crack at the 26-year-old Llorente in the hope of luring him to the Lane.

Turkish sports rag Fanatik claims that Chelsea are on the trail of Turkish midfielder Mehmet Topal. The 25-year-old made his name at Galatasaray before joining Spanish outfit Valencia last year in a deal believed to be in the region of £5m.

The Blues will have scouts at the Türk Telekom Arena this evening to watch Topal as Turkey host Croatia in the first leg of their Euro 2012 qualifier. Apparently Chelsea are considering making an offer of £11m in the New Year.

Finally, the Daily Mail reports that Arsenal are pursuing Rennes midfielder Tongo Hamed Doumbia. The strapping 6ft 3in Doumbia comes with a glowing reputation and an estimated price tag of £8m – unless it's pushed up in a bidding war with Russian clubs CSKA and Spartak Moscow.

Both outfits have their eye on the 22-year-old but the Mail says Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is determined to snap up Doumbia after recommendations from his scouts. ·

Not exactly Scholes replacement, but he is good enough to play in our midfield. I honestly don't think Sir Alex will buy any MF this January. Seems like he is waiting for Pogba and Morrison to get into the first team. You wouldn't want to buy a young MF and risk losing them.

Hopefully we will see more of Pogba and Morrison very soon and only then can be confident that Fergie is not buying for this reason ...

We saw no signing in January transfer window... infact we sold off Diouf and Morrison... with the summer transfer window due to open in 2 months and more improtantly with the Euros due to begin shortly after the season ends, I am sure lot of transfers could be done in priciple agreement before the transfer window opens.... and so does all the speculation fever goes high.... re-opening my pandora box (this thread) to discuss any and every specualtion on our transfer signings--

recently was excited to read the following trasfer rumours -

    - Kevin Strootman from PSV - 22 yr old CM who fits the bill for UTD in all ways ....
    - Aly Cissokho from Lyon - who wants a move to UTD
    - David Henen - the belgian teenage (15yr) striker from Anderlecht - just looked at his images on google and on first look gut feeling says he could be very good

in a way the above three could match what we need ....
