Depends on the person, Petrucci signed with us even though he was being offered double the money in Italy.

Barcelona bought their youth product Jordi Alba back for £11.2m.
Borussia Dortmund bought their youth product Marco Reus back for £14.5m.

These things happen all the time (players leaving academy), what's the fuss?

This. He was given so many chances and finally still left as expected...

    Enough said.

some of these kids know that they don't have enough talent for a long run career so might as well stock up while being young.

I did, because it shows up on newsnow and a thread title like the original will get us kicked off.
We've already been kicked off once before and RM had to plead and make promises to get us back on. He wouldn't be a happy bunny if we were kicked off again. (y)

So it's not a problem because we can always pay big money for players we had to begin with? Or are you saying, let enough youngsters leave and the odds are that one or two will turn out great?

I could have added that we also had Gerard Pique and Giuseppe Rossi too. They've not done too badly since leaving United. I just hope we don't regret selling Darron Gibson. ;)

The question that needs answering is: did Fergie freeze Pogba out because he got wind of the impending contract issues, or was it just bad man management? Because last summer Fergie cited Pogba as reason not to buy a CM.

Am I missing something? Pogba was offered a contract. I don't think the club are going to offer an 19-year-old with hardly any expierence ridiculous wages. The way he treated the club is what should be questioned. Texting a few player to say goodbye. Getting his agent to email the club to say he wasn't accepting the club. Then leaving for the summer and not telling anyone anything? If you seen Fergies interview last week, he was as confused as anyone. I suppose, with the way he left Le Hàrve, what more do you expect?

Lack of first team opportunities. Pogba was definitely ready for first team football and would have done a better job than several players who were picked ahead of him in midfield. Morrison is a hard one because clearly there is a huge attitude and general behaviour problem, but arguably if he was at least given league cup games it could have given him reason to stay on the straight and narrow. And Fryers may have looked at those ahead of him not getting opportunities, or Evra in his position playing poorly yet never being rotated, and decided that the best way to develop as a footballer was to actually play competitive football somewhere.

Obviously you can't be playing youngsters all the time but Fergie really should be giving more opportunities than he currently is, especially given the situation in midfield and to an extent in left back too.

He gave opportunities to the likes of Brown, O'Shea, Chadwick (lol) and further back Butt, Scholes, Nevilles etc when they were young and fresh from the academy - so why not this bunch?

    Not at all.

They weren't ready for 1st team football and weren't patient enough to wait. Although there maybe other factors with Ravel's move, he hasn't had a sniff at West ham and how many games does Pogba think he's going to get at Juve?

For every player like Pogba and Ravel you'll have players like Cleverley and Welbeck who have bided they're time, which is now paying off.

Yeah I would love to know what the real story is.

To me all of those things seem like the actions of a young kid who felt he was wronged and isn't experienced enough to know how to handle it. He was constantly touted as a player who would be seeing game time last season yet he didn't play a league game until January and then he only played 3 or so league games for the rest of the season.

maybe things would have been different if both Morrison and Pogba were offered contracts last summer and told they would get game time if they sign .... and then if they signed and did not get game time we could have couped couple of additional millions in their sale or in a way been compelled to play them as they have signed ...

though it is tough to doubt SAFs management, he too would have overlooked this and never saw it coming... hence this summer the corrective action in terms of offering contracts to the likes of Petrucci, Cole and Lingard.

What happened to Zeki? The hell is he at? He's not registered with Spurs' squad. Is he on loan somewhere else?

Maybe Spurs figured they don't have to pay him as much as 20k a week now he's burnt his bridges at United. Didn't see any official signing anywhere or compensation agreed.
