He was at the game against Oldham today, chatting to fans. They said he was a nice lad.

First of all, I haven't really seen this guy play so anything I say is purely speculation.

I know some have been doubtful regarding his qualities as a players and why City allowed us to sign him. What I would like to point out is that a bunch of players in City's youth ranks actually have real talent (belive it or not). It seems like the best crop was brought in under the Eriksson era though, when they had quite a different appraoch than today. Bulding something from the bottom up.

Take John Guidetti as an example. Never got anything that looked like a fair chance at City. Now he's on loan at Feyenoord and he's scoring a serious amount of goals, something like 18 in 17 or so, hattrick against Ajax and so on.

Guidetti chose to go out on loan rather than to switch clubs but someone less loyal to City and more ambitious :)D) might choose another solution. If SAF actually came in for him he might have seen it as an opportunity to actually improve his chances of beeing a good player rather than scoring more money.

I say we wait and see. He might be a revelation and there's always the very nice bonus that he's friende with Shaqiri :D

I PRAY that'll turn into something. God knows we need a player like him..Nevertheless, all the best to Frederic. I have a pretty good feeling he'll thrive in our setup..

The first of many talented young City players to leave due to their lack of faith in kids...

I think Fergie may have got Veseli to add pressure to the defender that came up through the academy?

Sir Alex Ferguson feels there was no risk attached to signing Manchester City defender Frederic Veseli ten days ago.

The deadline-day arrival from Eastlands is set to become a member of the United Reserves squad as he bids to impress the boss and earn an extended stay with the champions.

"It actually came about by chance that," Sir Alex told MUTV. "A member of our scouting department came and told us City had released this young lad from Switzerland and they'd watched him playing a couple of years back.

"There was nothing to be lost. We thought we'd take him until the end of the season and see how he does.

    "Hopefully he does well."

Veseli watched from the sidelines as his new United team-mates lost 4-2 to his former club in the Manchester Senior Cup on Thursday afternoon. He was ineligible to play as he is cup-tied in the competition.

So the deal is only till the end of the season .... interesting that the only signing of January is also a temporary one

Doesn't sound as if there's too much faith in him.

Has a definite feel of an extended trial about it.

This signing reminds me a lot of the way we picked up Ritchie De Laet. I remember reading that Ritchie was with our Reserves on a short-term pact for the second half of the 08-09 season and only signed a professional contract with us a couple of days before his debut on the last day of the season. Would love to see Veseli establish himself the way Ritchie has and based on what I've heard of him, he already comes in with a bigger reputation than Ritchie did..

Hope he does more than what De Laet has been able to .... though there have always been good feedback on De Laet never made an impression of being able to break into the first team.... wish that is not the case with Veseli...

Strange that Vermilj just said he's not seen much of him because he trains with the first team.
