Davide Petrucci is a young Italian midfielder who is currently out injured. He has yet to see action for United's Reserves in the 2009-2010 season. But plenty has been written about him, in the short time that he has been at the club!

EDIT: He made his season debut for the Academy in the 2-2 draw away at Wolves on 24th October.

Check out the monster thread about him on this forum:

Been reading around about him and it sounds like he will be back in reserve action this month...Was out last season with a groin injury, but apparently he's going through some strong growing pains this season, which has a huge effect on a persons game...Don't know how true that is, but he should be back this month...cheers

Petrucci was on the subs' bench for the Academy today, and came on for Rob Brady after 38 minutes. Poor Brady was stretchered off with an ankle injury.

Here's the match report from the Wolves 2-2 draw:

Little to report about Davide's performance at the moment, but it's excellent that he's now back on the scene. It meant that 3 of our Academy XI today were Italian! Defenders Michele Fornasier and Alberto Massacci played too.

He was superb against Wolves, provided a brilliant assist for Ajose's late equalizer, he also played two excellent through balls for Ajose and Lingard earlier in the game

What happened to this lad? Where did he disappear?

I used to read about how talented he is, and watched few videos and he seemed to have the talent.

He had an impressive debut season, but after that he started to suffer severe pain from unpredictable growth spurts. He barely played last season because of this. He started to feature after January and was only starting to regain his form when he picked up an injury while on international duty or in training (I'm not really sure), so that marked the end of his season. Gerrard and Fletcher suffered from similar growth spurts during their teenage years. He's still only 18 so he time on his side.

Lets only hope that he can come back from this growth spurt issues like Gerrard and Fletcher have then hey? I heard really good things about him and there was a lot of interest from Italian clubs before these injury problems so lets hope he comes back and regains his form. A very good young talent though and someone who could break through at United because we do lack creativity in the middle of the park. Fingers are crossed for him.

It's not just the painful growth spurts, as he is also recovering from a pelvic injury. I heard that he's back home in Italy while he revovers.

During today's Academy game Les Kershaw who works at United said mentioned the Petrucci is back in training and feeling in decent shape. Great news that.

Awesome. Hopefully his injury problems are behind him...I'm really looking forward to seein him in action. i'd love to see him get a run out in a carling cup game sometime.

Be realistic. He'll have to earn a Carling Cup squad place first.

He came back from a long lay off in January, only to then pick up another serious injury after a few games.

We need to be patient with him.

Good new. According to David Stowell, an MUTV commentator, Petrucci is back at Carrington training and is in good spirits.

So hopefully we'll se him back in action in December.
