U-21: The Marnick Vermijl Thread

Marnick Vermijl is a 19 year old Belgian defender, currently playing right back for United's Reserves, having signed from Standard Liege in the summer of 2010.

Not seen anything. From reading the news reports when the deal was announced, it doesn't sound like he made much of a dent at Standard Liege, but that Ole G-S had seen him and that he'd done well when he came to train at Old Trafford. Obviously part of the talent scouting and the hope that he'll become a really good player in the next few years. Watch this space!

So Marnick is officially at United now, but so far I've not seen anything mentioning him being involved at the club. Will he be training with the Academy or straight in to Ole's Reserves? Anyone else know more?

He might have started with The Academy because I haven't heard his name mentioned in The Reserves' pre-season friendlies. He'll probably start featuring for The Reserves seen as The Milk Cup starts next week.

According to SkySports News sidebar he is confirmed as a United player.

but so are raf and de laet
its like were overloading with defenders (mabey an exageration) but strikers we definatly are
i just dont like to see good talent such as this lad raf or de laet go to waste

I think you do our scouts and academy and reserve set up an injustice... The scouts have highlighted him as a talent for the future and thus its good to secure him, also our facilities and players will inevitably make him a better player, especially at such a young age. Also you've got to consider that Brown 30, JOS 29, Neville 35... When Marnick is 22/23 they'll probably all be gone or being phased out, so its good to have two youngsters vying for a place in the team

He played on the right wing in the 2nd half so maybe hes more than a RB?
