if we are really going to improve our mdfield we need a creative playmaker like modric or kagawa. And we need a defensive ballwinner, a fighter with a powerfull bite like de rossi or m'vila

Was at the game v Swansea, thought he did very well. Was clever with his positioning and was assured with the ball.

I can't see us signing De Rossi. Even though he's been linked with us repeatedly I just don't think he fits the profile of what we'd go for in terms of age or what he'd want in terms of wages. Plus, he's already a star name. If he come to England I'd see him fitting the mould of the kind of player that City or Chelsea would go for.

M'Vila is probably more likely if we decided that we want to go for that type of midfield player. But whether we'll actually sign him or any of the other names that we have been and will be linked with in the coming months is like putting them all in a hat and drawing at random. We pretty much know that there will be at least one midfielder coming in, but who it is will depend mainly on what he has identified as the main weakness in midfield (and we all know that the fans appraisal of the midfield is often different than that manager's ) as well as how much the Glazers are willing to offer in terms of funds.

    http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/12691/7776892/Swans-set-to-keep-Sigurdsson

Sky Sports understands Swansea have agreed a deal with Hoffenheim to sign Icelandic midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson on a permanent basis.

Sigurdsson joined the Swans on loan in January after falling down the pecking order at Hoffenheim and quickly slotted into Brendan Rodgers' side.

He played a key role in an impressive campaign for the Welsh club, but it was always unclear whether Hoffenheim would call him back this summer after a managerial change saw Markus Babbel replace Holger Stanislawski.

However, it now looks as though Swansea will be able to keep hold of Sigurdsson as they are believed to have agreed a fee with Hoffenheim.

It is thought the two clubs have struck a deal for the Swans to buy the 22-year-old for a fee in the region of £7million, which would be a new club record.

Sigurdsson is now set to discuss terms with Swansea and the club will be hoping to confirm him as their first signing of the summer.

Never thought they'd get him permanent. That's a hell of a coup.

To be honest, it'll be more interesting to see how he plays this season under more pressure.

Which ,sometimes, all you need in a team containing Rooney , Nani ,Valencia and Young. But can't see him coming to us given the fact that Sir Alex seems to have us shopping at the top end of the market this time around. If he can show it in the next coming season a move to pastures anew beckons .
I can see Swansea making a £15-20 m profit on him in the summer of 2013 or 2014 if he maintains his level or adds more to his game.

Good for them. I honestly didn't think we were even going to get him. I saw no recent news or developments about our interest in him.

6.8 million is a bargain for him to be quite honest. Great signing by Swansea.

When people are going crazy about the likes of Hazard it's players like this fella we should be picking up for bargain deals.
