56) 5 August 1993 - Gladstony (Estevan Paulino Da Silva) (MF) (loan to Twente) Is Gladstony already signed by UTD ?
It's all a bit mysterious at the moment. If you look in this thread .......... http://www.manutdtalk.com/forums/academy/37982-academy-gladstony-thread.html ...... it seems that Gladstony was one of the five Brazilians brought over to Old Trafford last season. Rafael Leao was described as being "on loan" to United when he played a few games in the Academy side. Right now he's touring around with the Reserves, and I don't know if that means we have signed him, or whether he's getting an extended loan to see if he's worth keeping? Gladstony (when you read articles like the one below) looks to be on United's books, but will be at Twente for a year to aid his development, and probably enhance his status. Somehow a player has a better chance of getting the right documentation coming from outside the EU if they go to Holland rather than England? Don't ask me to develop that point! Man Utd signing Gladstony on way to Twente | Premiership News | tribalfootball.com So right now I'm listing both players as being players for this club. It remains to be seen if Leao will stay, and also whether Gladstony will be groomed to come back to our Reserves a year from now. Sadly the official website doesn't include such information.
So as things stand if as expected PIG and Gibson leave we will have 21 players over the age of 21. Its also likely that one or both of Diouf and Obertan could be loaned or sold. Seems like quite a small squad compared to previous seasons. Obviously De Gea, Fabio, Rafael, Macheda, Phil Jones and Welbeck will all be in the first team squad as well from the group of under 21. So if all players currently at the club remain here we have 29 players who could realistically feature in the first team in the league this season, however in all probability we will be down to about 24/25 after loans and sales.
That sounds about right, but obviously with a smaller group of overage players, that either gives us the flexibility to buy in the next five weeks, or simply wait a year. Look below the dotted line at the U21s and there are a lot of quality players who will be wanting to make it in to that 25 over the next couple of years. At the top end, we've already lost our 'old men' like Van Der Sar, Neville, Scholes, Hargreaves, Brown and O'Shea. As the young lads hit 21 in future, we will be saying goodbye to Giggs, Owen and Ferdinand. Very interesting times ahead as the team evolves.
He should still be registered in the 25 overage players for the Prem squad as he is a United player, and if he returned from loan early for whatever reason would then be eligible for United in the Prem...definately wont be in the CL A list
From Norwich Official Website.. Norwich City | News | First News | First News | DEFENDER POISED TO JOIN There is no recall clause on this loan deal. And for his contract, there is only a year left with Utd... And before this move, Sir didn't extend his contract for year(s)... So, he would probably be a free transfer after the loan move.
OK thanks very much for the news on that mate, it does surprise me there is no recall clause...so no need to register him in the United 25 then
Good luck to Gabriel Obertan in the stripes of Newcastle. He was #21 on the list of players, in age order. That means we now have 3 spaces in a 25 man squad should we choose to splash some cash for experienced players in the remaining weeks of this transfer window.
Fettis is the goalkeeping coach, was only on the bench, a handfull of times. In bizarre situations. Mamam is a trialist, no point putting either of them down.
Yes no probs I can add in Souleymane Mamam for now. Maco is right. Fettis only filled in because we had a goalkeeping shortage against Shrewsbury.
for 2011-2012 it will be 20, 21, 22 or 23 overage players(depending on Gibson, Kuszczak, Sneijder etc) in the Prem overage list allowing them room to add u21s de Gea and Jones for sure and possibly Vermeijl to the CL A list 25 man squad, with de Laet not registered as he is away on loan for the season with no recall possibility for the eventual 'United's 25 Man Squad for the 2012-2013 season' thread it looks like currently there are 30 overage players(including Gibson, Kuszczak, de Laet, Bebe etc) if the 2012-2013 season were to begin now(23 overage players right now and 7 becoming overage for 2012-2013) the likes of Giggs(probably retiring after 2011-2012), Owen, Gibson, Kuszczak, Amos, Drinkwater, Diouf, Bebe and de Laet I think will not be around this time next year...that reduces the number from 30 to 21 add the possible signing of Sneijder this season and two others next season (or no more signings this season and 3 overage signings next season) and there is 24 overage Prem players for the 2012-2013 season...with the Prem underage Phil Jones joining the 25 man overage CL A list as he would still not qualify for the CL B list(he will qualify for CL B list in 2013-2014 season still as an underage player and then become overage in 2014-2015 joining the CL A list again then)...you need to be both u21 and at the club for 2 seasons to qualify for the CL B list Assuming players like Berbatov stay, then for 2012-2013... 24 Prem overage players(also in CL A list): de Gea, Lindegaard, Evra, Ferdinand, Vidic, Fabio, Rafael, Evans, Smalling, Anderson, Nani, Carrick, Fletcher, Cleverley, Park, Young, Valencia, Welbeck, Berbatov, Rooney, Hernandez...plus hopefully Sneijder this season...and 2 more overage signings next season Prem u21 players added to the CL A list: Jones(making a total of 25 CL A list players) Prem u21 players added to the CL B list: Macheda, Pogba, Brown, Vermeijl, Johnstone, Norwood, James, Keane, Tunnicliffe, Morrison, King, Brady, Wootton and a few others etc...some of these will likely be away on loan, for a CL squad of between 29 to 39 players depending how many are away on loan its looking like United will need to lose around 8 to 10 players(combination of current overage players and players about to become overage) each season to reduce the numbers to remain at or under the limit of 25 overage players, and to also leave room to keep bringing in at least 2, 3 or 4 new players each season as well
The annual Marveld Tournament in The Netherlands has been a good showcase for United's youngsters over the past few years. In trying to figure out which players are coming through the ranks, I've done my best to identify some of the names down the bottom of the age list in the OP. Here are the last three Marveld squads: (members of the new U18 squad are in bold pink) From left to right: (Back row) 13 Kieran Harrison (GK), 4 Luke Daly (RB), 6 Cameron Borthwick-Jackson (CB), 11 Alex Naylor (AMF/LW), 14 Ben Whiteman (MF/Wing), 2 Joe Riley (RB/MF), 12 Ben Greenop (ST), 8 Ryan Shields (MF) (Front row) 9 Devonte Redmond (ST/Wing), 5 Edward Cole-Fulwood (CB), 1 Kieran O'Hara (GK), 7 Scott McTominay (MF), 15 Elliot Rokka (RW), 3 Sam Hart (LB), 10 Ollie Rathbone (MF), 16 Jack Harrison (LW) From left to right: (Back row) 6 Ben Barber (LB), 3 Nicolas Ioannou (CB), 8 James Weir (MF), 5 Matt Wilkinson (CB), 13 Elliot Chadderton (GK), 11 John Pritchard (LW), 12 Mikey Starkey (DF) (Middle row) 4 Joe Rothwell (MF), 1 Daniel Atkinson (GK), 16 Louis Rowley (LW) (Front row) 7 Ryan Shields (MF), 15 Omar Thompson (FW), 2 Josh Harrop (RB), 14 James Wilson (FW), 10 Ben Pearson (FW), 9 Daniel O'Brien (FW) From left to right: (Back row) 11 James Weir (MF), 14 David Kocsis (CB), 2 Donald Love (RB), 5 Tyler Blackett (CB), 8 Luke Hendrie (MF), 6 Jack Barmby (FW), 1 Jonny Sutherland (GK) (Middle row) 15 Elliot Kebbie (FW), 13 Mike Cottrill (GK), 4 Matt Wilkinson (CB), 12 Joe Rothwell (MF) (Front row) 3 James Wilson (LB), 6 Jack Rudge (MF), 7 Kenji Gorré (FW), 10 Ben Pearson (FW), 16 Daniel Griffiths (MF)
The love child of Donald Duck and Courtney Love? He's been at United for a while. Now just included in the U18 Academy squad for the new season.
Hi Moon. Just being uber pedantic, but a couple of possible corrections - in the 2010 squad, Daniel O'Brien (now at Everton fwiw) is front right rather than front left. I don't think the blond lad in the middle row is Elliot Chadderton either - I'm almost certain I've seen him in MUPC/Marveld pics playing outfield. Think he's quite possibly Ben Barber. Also, in the 2009 photo, I'm pretty sure Kenji Gorré and Elliot Kebbie are the other way round
