Personally I wish De Laet still have future in OT.. However, as his contract will get expired in June 2012, and there is still no signal to extend his contract.... And the loan deal signed between Utd and Norwich has the following clause: Norwich City | News | First News | First News | DEFENDER POISED TO JOIN There is no recall clause on this loan deal. In Jan 2012, De Laet will be allowed to have talks with other clubs...
with Pogba now getting a CL squad number due to qualifying for B list having been at the club 2 years there are now 34 in the CL squad there are now 48 players with a Premier League/domestic squad number of those 48 there are 41 currently at the club who are not away on loan of those 41 there are 34 with a CL squad number as well
I'm updating the OP after each match to highlight which players are in the 18. Nice to see many of the Reserves involved, including Marnick Vermijl getting a taste of the subs' bench. Cleverley back in action, goals from three senior squad members, experience for the youth, including 20 minutes for Ravel Morrison. All good! Roll on Everton! Only a tad disappointed that Davide Petrucci hasn't been included. Italians are clearly out of favour at the moment, as Macheda wasn't there either. He's not injured is he?
As always I've updated the OP to show the latest 18 players to be picked in the matchday squad. Obviously a disappointing result last night, but I'm still glad Fergie is giving his young talents a chance to get involved. However, I'd rather have seen Davide Petrucci or Marnick Vermijl in the squad than Darron Gibson. Then Pogba or Morrison could have started the match.
United I think had 22 in the Prem overage squad for the first half of the season and 24 in the CL A list, so with Vidic out for the season it becomes 21 and 23, leaving 2 spots open should United wish to buy in January...if a current overage player is sold or goes out on loan in January then there are 3 spots open for the Europa squad(5 Prem overage spots open),,,for Europa 25 man A list squad United are allowed 3 additions max to the squad they used in CL group, and one of the three potential new additions can have played in this seasons CL United have said they probably wont buy anyone but if they change their minds and can find a player or players at a good price then that will be great to see some new talent in the squad
with Giggs now a possibility of staying at United for 2012/2013 I think United will only bring in 2 high quality players in the summer...but if he does not sign on they will bring in three new players...and if United were to sign a new player in January then that will mean they bring in one less player in the summer(unless they for example brought in a player on loan from Jan to May 2012) because of the 25 man squad rules for Prem and CL basically United have to sell/loan out for the season 6 or 7 overage players in the off season just to bring in 1 new overage player...or sell/loan out for the season 7 or 8 overage players to bring in 2 new overage players...or lose 8 or 9 to bring in 3 etc...and even if they bring in a new great U21 player they still have to be put into the CL A list in their first 2 years with the club(as in the case of de Gea and Jones this year in the CL and again Jones next year in the CL) I can see United without most of the following 8 players next season who will all be overage in 2012/2013... Kuszczak, Amos, De Laet, Gibson, Drinkwater, Bebe, Diouf and Owen if Owen leaves then the number 2 and 7 shirts will be free for a defender and midfielder it will allow them to bring in 2 quality new players and would give them an overall main 33 or 34 man first team squad looking something like this... 2012/2013 squad... De Gea-Lindegaard-(((Amos)))-(Johnstone) Evra-Fabio-Rafael-Smalling-Vidic-Ferdinand-Evans-((Jones))-(Fryers) plus a new defender Giggs-Valencia-Park-Nani-Young-Cleverley-Anderson-Carrick-Fletcher-(Pogba)-(Morrison)-(Cole)-(Tunnicliffe) plus a new midfielder Rooney, Hernandez, Welbeck, Berbatov, (Macheda), (W.Keane) players without brackets are Prem overage list and CL A list = 24 players players with (((triple brackets))) are Prem overage list and not in either CL list = 1 player(Amos) players with ((double brackets)) are Prem U21 list and CL A list = 1 player(Jones) players with (single brackets) are Prem U21 list and CL B list = 8 players Prem...25 in overage list(includes Amos)...9 in U21 list(includes Jones) = 34 CL...25 in A list(includes Jones, excludes Amos)...8 in U21 list = 33 (Amos could replace de Gea or Lindegaard in CL while they had injury/illness deemed to keep them out 30+ days) plus all the other U21 players in reserves/academy squads, with some of them also included in CL B list
well United do have to get rid of quite a few overage guys this coming summer with alot of current u21s becoming overage for 2012/2013 and Amos could be one of the ones to go...with the 25 man squad rules it could be a bit of a luxury having 3 overage goalkeepers in the squad however under the scenario I have listed 2 posts above there is actually one Prem overage spot free for a player as I have only listed 24 in that squad - but it would mean he would be left off the CL squad (as de Laet and Hargreaves were left off CL A lists in recent seasons) - so in that way Amos could be kept for insurance for the Prem, FA Cup and Carling Cup, but just not eligible for CL...a similar scenario could be used for someone like Owen for one last season if he were to stay with u21 Jones having to be put into the CL A list it creates one less place in the CL A list squad compared to the Prem overage squad but you are right there would be the option of loaning out Amos for the season...or they could loan him short term(with a release clause) at various times and also playing him in some Carling Cup games...or selling him...or another option keeping him fulltime as insurance for the 3 domestic comps but not the CL...take your pick on any of these options but England u19 goalkeeper Johnstone would be in both the Prem u21 squad and CL B list, and with Kuszczak gone, de Gea and Lindegaard would be the two senior goalkeepers edit - I added Amos to the Prem squad(but not CL squad)...also having thought about it there is a rule in CL where if a senior goalkeeper is injured meaning there is less than 2 senior goalkeepers fit in the CL A list then he is able to be replaced by a different senior goalkeeper not already in the A list squad...and that could be Amos...here is the rule below... CL Regulations - X - Player Eligibility - Subsequent Registration - Article 18.20 - Page 27 and 28... http://www.uefa.com/MultimediaFiles.../Regulations/01/48/42/49/1484249_DOWNLOAD.pdf "If a club cannot count on the services of at least two goalkeepers registered on List A because of long-term injury or illness, the club concerned may temporarily replace the goalkeeper concerned and register a new goalkeeper at any time during the season and complete the official registration list A with a goalkeeper fit to be fielded. An injury or illness is considered long-term if it lasts at least 30 days as of the day the injury or illness occurred. In case the recovery of the goalkeeper occurs before this 30 day period, the player must remain out of the players List A until the end of such period. If the replaced goalkeeper was registered as a locally trained player, the new goalkeeper does not need to be a locally trained player. The club must provide UEFA with the necessary medical evidence in one of UEFA's official languages. UEFA may require further medical examination of the goalkeeper by an expert appointed by UEFA at the cost of the club. Once the injured or ill goalkeeper is fit to be fielded again he can resume his position in place of his nominated substitute. The change must be announced to the UEFA administration 24 hours before the next match in which the goalkeeper is due to play." so Amos could potentially come into the CL A list as emergency replacement for either de Gea or Lindegaard but only for the period they are out and only if the injury/illness is deemed at the time of initial diagnosis to potentially keep that senior gk out for at least a 30 day period...so he wouldnt be able to come in if the injury/illness was expected to have one of the senior keepers out for a few weeks - the spell on sidelines would need to be at least for one month...its unlikely Amos will be needed for CL anyway as the chances of both senior keepers being injured is small
i am somehow a little concerned on letting Amos go... in the limited games that he played certainly looks a good bet... but then how long can we keep him if De Gea and Lindegard are doing well ... only in case of injuries is when we really need him.. also I do not know much about Johnstone as well so cannot be sure if he is good enough back up to have... in the list that you mentioned, Fletcher is included... I guess that slot will be available for another overaged player to come in .. though I wish him speedy recovery and will want to see him play for UTD .....doubt if he will be available at the start of next season ....
Amos kept - see above posts its hard to know with Fletcher how long he will need...and over the years as Ole and Saha and Hargo and Owen and all these guys out long term were given the time they needed I am sure the same respect will be given to Fletcher...and by the start of next season if he is not back by then they should have a better idea in terms of how long he may be out for...but the 33/34 guys above should be a quality squad with good depth, and if they dont get as many injuries as this season then they should obviously do alot better in the CL, and hopefully win another Premier League
so finally we have two slots available for new recruits if we sell the following right Kuszczak, De Laet, Gibson, Drinkwater, Bebe, Diouf and Owen it will be unfortunate to see De Laet and Drinkwater leave without having the opportunity to play for 1st team though..... just wondering how is Citeh able to cope with these regulations with all their buys and hardly selling anyone
yeah if those 7 guys are sold or away on loan for the season then United could bring in 2 new players(and keep Giggs)...and one overage player would miss out on CL(likely Amos as discussed above) each season as players turn over 21 then all clubs will need to sell quite a few to stay under the limit and allow them to bring in new players...it will be interesting to see how City manage that I also added Will Keane to the squad as the possibility of Owen, Diouf and Bebe leaving is high and if the Prem and CL overage squads are full an overage player could also have the option of signing to only be eligible for FA Cup and Carling Cup and Community Shield and reserves only (making them ineligible for Prem and CL)...it could be an option for a decent young player who had just turned over 21 if United didnt want to lose them at the time...and could also loan them out...but its probably pretty unlikely - pretty much as players turn over 21 they are either good enough for overage lists or not and if not unfortunately there will be no room for them and they will have to move on
Yes Will Keane is certainly a good addition ... but looking at the current defensive crisis would like to see if any of the reserves or academy players are good enough to be named in under 21 category .... how about Brown (younger one) and Thorpe
reece brown hasn't had games recently...maybe injuried... Thorpe becomes a regular substitute in the reserves.... M.Keane (CB) / Vermijl (RB) is preferred.
Going by the latest post in the Transfer Talk threads ... Rasmus Elm could be overaged midfielder filling in the slot left by treble1999 http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-n...1410/55/man-united-swoop-sweden-international
all those other younger guys you mention will be eligible for Prem as they are u21 - my squad I listed is basically a main first team large squad of those likely to see action in the various comps the Elm news...and stories like Gaitan etc, its not yet official but it will be interesting to see who the (hopefully) two or more new players will be that come in for 2012/2013...Fergie may go nuts over the summer and get rid of 10 players to be able to bring in about 5 new signings...but I'm predicting 7 or 8 to leave or be loaned and 2 or 3 new signings I would like to see one of the new signings to be a quality versatile defender who can play both centrally and on the left...similar to what O'Shea, Silvestre and Heinze could...United need a defender like that but much higher quality than those guys, allowing him to cover for Evra and also be highly capable as a central defender
