There have been far too many poor and gutless performances by this United team this season, home to city, all the CL games, home to Blackburn, home to Palace, away to the Racists in the cup, home to Ajax, both games against Bilbao (addmitedly a better team) the lack of desire in these games was unacceptable and worrying.
Of course the league is far more important but still, we were embarrassed tonight and in the first leg too. They were excellent but what bothers me is they played better than I think we have all season, if we are this big super power club then why haven't we got players good enough to play that well? People have become content with grinding out wins, what happened to the stylish team that everyone feared?
both games against Ajax were disappointing tbh. In the away game Ajax was the better team first half.... and why you´re all playing it down, our poor performances in Europe with this league counts more blablabla ****. We´re Man United, we made 3 CL finals in the past 4 years and we did well in the League, too then. If we win No.20 it can not hide how **** we were against Barca in May and in Europe this season.
Isn't it obvious? He fancied his chances at the start of the game, saw Bilbao wanted it more, realised we were going out and rested some key players. Preferably Rooney would have come off too.
Agreed but its pathetic, certainly not the Utd way I was brought up on. Never say die hasn't happened this season and like said in a previous post its the cup games its most obvious. We are so experienced we can grind out wins in the league but in one off games plenty of teams are better than us. Can anyone name our best 11? I can't but its easy enough to name every other top clubs best 11. Teams get good by getting to know each other, not by playing alongside a different player every game.
If his intention was to rest key players..... I ask myself why he let them all play then. Why didnt he pick some Reserves? They´d probably been more hungry for it. Not what we saw today. That was a "half-hearted" line-up. We needed 2 or more goals.....why didnt we start with Rooney / Welbeck or Rooney/Welbeck/Hernandez like at the weekend?
I find it mildly amusing that all the talk at the start of the season was how can we match Barcelona and have been outclassed by a team 6 places below them
Fergie was looking after our best interests LEAGUE TITLE , Bilboa beat us fair and square, being beaten has given us a much much better chance of seeing City off. injuries picked up by staying in this comp would probably have cost us dear and they would have happened it always does ,minds are just on one thing now and thats great news for us.
and you care a **** about how the big Man United is represented in Europe? I cant believe how easily some here take this ffs. 2 games - 2 losses. 4 games in EL- 3 losses. For me its a shame. I wanted us to win this. Only thing I didnt want was 120 mins.
What's on Fergie's mind? The League title. We were out and he knew that the League is all that's left. I just hope he has finally realised that rebuilding still needs to be done in certain departments....
so I hope for us all we wont end the season trophyless. @cunto: thats not how you play such a competition thats why I react like this....take it seriously - or let it.
I shudder to think what will happen when Fergie goes, and if the manger who comes in doesn't do aswell as Fergie has after one season how many of the idiotic fans will be calling for blood straight away. We're out of the 2nd rate European competetion, big wooopde****ing doo, would you cry so much after going out of the carling cup? This will work out in our favour in the terms of going out to win the league which I'd rather win then come second in and go to the final of the Europa or win that. It's a micky mouse competetion at the end of the day, has been for years now
I agree with the first part. However the second part not so much. Yes it is the second rate competition but it's the manner of the exit that is worrying.
They'll probably run to whichever other team is doing well at the time....and good bloody riddance to them as well. The rest of your post...Couldn't agree more.
That's rather dismissive, Fiat. It's a 'Mickey Mouse' competition which we haven't been good enough to be competitive in, despite playing a strong side in both legs. Futhermore it's a continuation of our terrible champions league performances this season. Of course the league is much more important, and the superb domestic form at the same time as awful european form is hard to explain. Yet we haven't been good enough in europe and must analyse why.
