Only thing on Fergies mind is that the ref robbed us, the defence was poor and we have a world class midfield thats as good as Barca

Pick either/all of the three and you have it in a nutshell

Other than that- UTD are clearly making great strides to catching up with Barcelona, it tells you a lot about the mentality of the team that we scored in the last 10 mins, upping our game after being so convincingly outplayed & no doubt come summertime he'll be happy with what he's got. Genius Cleverley coming through the ranks, Fletcher will be back, Scholes staying loads of options nothing to worry about

    cynical I know- I''m sorry

What I hope was on his mind is - I have to get players of the class of Munain, Llorente and Iraola (if not them).

We have been weighed, we have been measured.. and most definitely we have been found wanting.

we're not even close. pretty much 9 of our first xi played last night, at the very least 7/8, and we were outclassed completely.

look mate Utd crashed out of the champions league and in my eyes should not have a second chance of euro success ,but thats the stupid rules for you. Utd have got an easier run in ,in the league and with full focus and a reasonable fit squad we should keep it out of Citys hands ,and thats far more important to this club . hopefully this has shown Fergie how poor half his players are and he just might invest in a few good uns this summer.

If we win the league I doubt we will see some drastic changes in the squad....cause Fergie will still believe squads fine.I agree its a stupid rule that teams that are out of CL have to play EL. But only highpaid players from english clubs see it as punishment to play there. If I had their money I would run my ass off to repair the damage of being out of CL so early.

I cant believe that a man who collects titles like no one else and wants us to win our finals even if its a CC one only is pleased with his team after such a game. Only 4 clubs have won all 3 european trophies. And we could have been the 5th.

injuries are no excuse- fully fit squad & I think they're would of been 3 poss 4 max changes to the team Fergie put out last night- UTD should be able to cope with that easily

I actually don't think we're too far away from Barca / Madrid though- 2 definite poss 3 proven world class players would bring this squad of players to life.

on top of that becoming more convinced that some tactical nous needs to be added to the coaching staff, it's never been Fergie's strongest point IMO + Phelan & Co. strike me as a pair of doughnuts-

get rid of 10 players and buy 6 worldclass ones and we come a bit closer....

realistically we are lightyears away from them. Look what players we have in the squad and ask yourself would they find a place in theirs.

if fergie can construct a truely world class central midfield unit, then the players we currently have at the back, on the flanks, and up front will make this team a true force

its just for some reason, he seems to not acknowledge the single most important area of the team??? (which is strange considering some of the greats we have had playing there in his tenure)

clam, he should have realized that in the summer!!! He bought Young, good player but not worldclass. Instead of getting Sneijder he did nothing and took Scholes back. 38 year old Giggs still plays in EL, Park. And people are wondering why they outplayed us in both games.

Fergie didnt want us to go any further in this competition & that was obvious before a ball had been kicked last night.Playing Shrek upfront on his own from the word go when we were effectively 2-0 down already. He had no support,we were bad in the 1st half but downright abysmal in the second. Why bring on Pogba when we were 3-0 down in the tie? It was a meek surrender.Read some of the posts on here & cannot believe some people slagging Rooney. He was busting a gut last night, the 1st shot we had in the second half was from him & the keeper ends up picking the ball out of the net, great piece of skill. In fact we only had 2 shots on target the whole second half, the other from Welbeck. It was shameful. The last red off the pitch last night & coincidentally the only player to vaguely come over to the United section & clap the support was.....Rooney.I noticed as well Llorente was straight on the pitch to have Rooneys shirt at the end of the game.
As for Athletic, what a place & what people. The reception they gave Giggs when he was substituted was incredible but after the game every man, woman & child stood there & applauded the United support for 5 minutes it was unbelievable. Not content with that vast numbers were waiting outside the United end after the game to shake hands & praise our support. Now I've been on some euro aways but I've never been treated like this before, this was a complete novelty.Personally I dont think their behaviour would have been any different if United had won.
Probably the only injustice of the night was the scoreline,Athletic should have won by more. One last thing to ponder every single player on that pitch playing for Athletic was a Basque there were no imported millionaires.A club inherently proud of its tradition of promoting through the ranks.Should our paths ever cross again do yourself a favour & visit this part of the world you wont regret it
