its been rather quiet over at anfield in the transfer market

    hardly any links either.

with ronaldo and tevez both leaving, more the ronaldo factor

you think rafa would jump at the chance to improve his squad and take them a level above us

isit because the funds are not there or does he believe his squad is good enough as it is?

they signed a defender who can't defend :D

btw liverpool are after d'agostino which would be a great signing for them because i hear great things about him from pundits

i think they will buy by the money of the departures
d'agostino funds from what xabi will get them

It depends on the Alonso and Mascherano situations. They'll definately replace any outgoings.

I wouldn't be suprised if they bought a striker to cover for Torres.

so you think they will sell for certain this summer?

alonso and masc rumours are flying about but i cant see it going through tbh

and does that d'agostino play up top, thought they would try and correct their robbie keane flop with someone to partner torres

It's got something to do with the funds I reckon. Johnson cost a fair bit but Pompey still owed them money from the Crouch deal...

Their main worry is all the speculation about Mascherano (Barca) and Alonso (Madrid).
Losing one of them would be a blow for them and it would mean the return of Gerrard
into CM where he isn't as effective as he is playing off Torres.

Alonso got f*cked about last season (Barrygate) so I wouldn't be surprised if he moved on.
There is also some clause in his contract that his old club Sociedad would receive 20%
of any transfer he might make. This expires around the 18th of July so I wouldn't be
surprised if he left them after that time.

I'm not sure who else they are in for but their squad is paper thin. A few injuries to key players
and they are in the shit :) They seem to have a solid XI though which we can analyse now:

    -------------------------------Reina--------------------------

    Johnson---------Carragher--------------Skrtel----------Agger/Dossena/Arbeloa

    Kuyt-------------Mascherano/Alonso (1 will be sold)--Gerrard-------Riera-----

    --------------------Benayoun----------------------------------------

    -------------------------------------Torres------------------------------

Their keeper and defence are pretty solid. 3rd best defence in the league after United & Chelsea.

Kuyt is a bit like Park in ways but can come up with a few goals. He will provide the cover for
Johnson to get forward. Riera is a bit hot and cold and Im not sure what to make of him.....
Benayoun excelled last season coming in off the wing or playing off the front man.
Torres is class as we know but a bit injury prone thank God.

If they are to mount a serious title challenge will depend on their ability to keep hold of Alonso and Mascherano.
My prediction- 3rd place in the league.

i think d'agostino is a central midfielder tho i never watched him

anyway real want xabi and he is the right thing they need
he will be vital in the midfield as real don't have any quality deep lying midfielder who can build attacks
    so they should sign him

but it seems they are not

agreed in what you have said about their line up. it is a safe 11 but their is a number of players i would want not to sell but bring in compition for at least.

Benayoun - good worker but to me isnt a quality player that can do the business on the big stage

Kuyt - As you said, fab worker, a lot like park, but again id prefere him as a squad rotation player. Not a first teamer every week

Riera - probably the weakest part of their midfield

Agger/Dossena/Arbeloa - i wont knock all of them cause i think some people will rate at least one of them. but to me that isnt solid. that isnt evra :D

    Skrtel - Nuff Said

that team if it stays 100% healthy and get lucky could and that is just a maybe, take a league title. but for them to dominate the league like we have and like they did in the 80s, they need a lot more to build an empire

I actually rate Agger but mainly as a CB. Arbeloa and Dossena are very average. Dossena is shit if we are being honest :p That's why Id nearly put Agger in at LB since he's a lefty. They have a long way to go before they can dream of lifting OUR trophy!!

If they lost Mascherano and Alonso (I can't believe some people said Gareth Barry was better than him at the beginning of last year  ) I'd be hard pressed to see them even contending for 3rd.

i don't know how they could replace alonso and mascherano, if both go, that leaves lucas to man the midfield!

I pray that they lose Mascherano and Alonso!! Probably won't happen...if it did, they would be gone for all money!!

think they have to worry about who will be going first. mascherano and/or xabi alonso

Real Madrid will probably pull out of the chase for Alonso as Liverpool will price them out and they have already spent most of their available money....probably would chase Ribery if given the choice.

lets hope barcelona pursue Mascherano with more intensity!

I dont think theyll lose both of them to be honest, probably Alonso, but I still think they will overprice him and the fascists will go in another direction.
