The next (and, I believe, penultimate) expansion for World of Warcraft is coming next month, on September 25th.

As always, an amazing trailer. Blizzard is always making their games look much more exciting than they really are. It almost makes me excited about it.

So anyone here going to buy and play it?
For nostalgia's sake, I might. I've been linked with wow for the last 7 years, so I'll likely pop in it for a bit, see the new areas, the new classes and races, but my wow days are long gone.

    You're surprised??
We killed (or re-banished, to some) an old god back in Vanilla, Illidan and Kil'Jaeden in the TBC, Arthas and a freakin' Aspect in WOTLK.

I thought it looked pretty cool til the kung fu panda crap turned up hah.

TBH, I didn't even know people still played this game. It's free to play now right?

Nope. And doubtful it ever will be. There's still about 9 million people playing worldwide.
The appeal is that, while there are constant patches and expansions, it's still a game made nearly 8 years ago, so it runs on pretty much everything.

I thought I read about an element of the game being free. Perhaps I'm thinking of them making the vanilla game mode being free to download?

Infact, I thought you could have a free account but it was level capped or something?

    What @fordie said.
    https://eu.battle.net/account/creation/wow/signup/
Anyone can create an account and play till level 20, but you're limited on trades, on the gold you can acquire, on the races you can play.

The thing is, when the new expansion comes out, there'll be tons of players returning, and then, just like in Cataclysm, it'll start to drop. And then the last expansion will come, I assume with Sargeras, since he's the only baddie "remaining", and that'll be it. Blizzard have already been working on their new MMO for some years now, code named Titan.
