I know there's a few on here that used to watch this, and some still do. I saw a quality promo the other day from 1997 and I kept seeing other promo's from matches I used to watch. Anyone remember these? (My faviorite ever) Second faviorite. I LOVE it when Cactus Jack arrives. EDIT: WWE Attitude Era Episodes: http://www.firstrowsports.eu/watch/49045/1/watch-wwe-tv.html
I've seen all those! Used to watch it a lot back in the day...starting with Wrestlemania ten all the way to 2003 when I stopped watching it regularly and kinda grew out of it. Do you remember Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon's ladder match for the intercontinental belt at W10? And the Bret Hart screw job....
Yeah, didn't see the HBK vs Hall match live because I wasn't into WWF/E back then, though I did check it out sometimes. I really began watching WWF and WCW around 97. Screwjob was Apparently Undertaker made Vince go and talk to Bret afterwards, which obviously resulted in Bret knocking Vince out. Shawn Michaels really was a git back then. My faviorites of all time: 1. The Rock 2. Kurt Angle 3. Goldberg 4. Undertaker 5. Masked Kane
WWF was epic back in the late 90's, early 00's. When WCW invaded WWF that story line/matches were some of the best.
Kurt Angle: Anyone remember him singing to HBK's music? I think I'm cute I got gold medals I got the moves to make them all tap out! the angle slam, the ankle lock! Marty Jennety.......still can't walk! I'm just a sext Kurt!! btw I HATED Stone Cold because around 2001 where my interest in the WWF peaked I was a Rock mark. It pissed me off when he screwed the Rock at WM 17, then HHH scred The rock the next Raw
This was Kurt Angle's greatest moment. Apart from that he sucked balls. I was a huge fan of The Rock and Stone Cold, but Stone Cold edges it for me.
Funniest promo's of all time: Don't think anyone has ever owned a crowd like that. Love it when the Hurricane comes out and The Rock says "arrest him! he's guilty of shoving chicken McNugget's straight up his ass"
I remember that Cactus Jack bit, Mankind was on the ramp and Triple H was just ripping him then Mankind takes off his mask and shirt with the Cactus Jack shirt underneath and Triple H starts shitting himself. I was like WTF? Is this some kind of Pokémon evolution/Super Saiyan shit?
The Rock was at his best when he went bad. I don't know why. HHH has the best entrance in the history of wrestling. Awesome.
Mick Foley has different personalities. Cactus Jack, who was his character when he was in Japan and ECW, and was hardcore, Fought on nails, barbed wire, fire, thumbtacks ect. Mankind was this psychotic guy who entered the WWF and was the only guy at the time who could beat the undertaker cleanly, despite being the heel (bad guy). Eventually Mankind became more of a comedic character and more like his real self. Dude Love was a guy who basically loved you. I hated that character so I won't get in any more. "Cactus Jack" came to the WWF in 98 and destroyeda younger HHH, that's why Mankind says "I think you know the guy". This is the type of crazy shit the guy does: Hardly pokemon is it? He's done worse stuff that that aswell. He nearly got fired for that, as he seriously could have killed himself and his wife threatened to divorce him for doing it. Owenzy, this is the best entrance: + ECW. Those fans were ******* mental.
TheManc, I know that Cactus Jack was a crackhead but are we the viewers to believe that when someone takes their mask off they become some kind of monster?
The idea is that HHH drove him to it. He put that side of him away because of how brutal he was. It's similar to the Undertaker. He came in as this deadman, then 10 years later became the "American Badass" on a motorbike. He faced Brock Lesnar, who was battered his wife and caused him hell in a Hell In a Cell match, and went to his parents graveyard (who he killed) as he had been driven to look at his darker side. Anyway he was scerwed by Vince McMahon and faced him in a Buried Alive match. In the Buried Alive match his brother, who was a "monster" interfered and cost him the match and basically destroyed him. He was gone for 4 months, then at WrestleMania came back with his deadman gimmick and has been ever since. Obviously it isn't real, but then I guess whether or not you can get over that will determine if you're a fan or not. Cactus Jack's story was realistic. Imagineyou used to be a violent person who murdered someone but changed your life around. Then a few years later someone was causing you and your family hell. Would you go back to that so called dark place and murder him again? Obviously I'm exagerating, but the point remains. edit: Speling is shocking, but I cba to fix it...
Believe what crap? Everyone knows it's staged. To call it fake though isn't right. The bumps hurt. That's part of the reason why so many wrestlers die young (overdose on painkillers, resulting from painful bumps) and why so many are in wheelchairs. It's very hard. You're on the road for 45 weeks a year, having physical matches 4 times a week. Chris Benoit, the one who murdered his wife and kid before hanging himself, had the brain of an 85 year old with serious alzheimer's, an autopsy showed, caused from hunderes of concussions.
It just the same as watching any other TV show, people know the fights are staged but that doesn't mean it can't be entertaining the guys still get hurt, just look at Mick Foley he has done some crazy stuff in matches
