Owen scores debut winner!

New signing Michael Owen scored on his debut as a second half substitute as United ran out 3-2 winners against a Malaysia XI.

Sir Alex Ferguson praised Owen’s instincts in the box.

“He’s different from our other players, he’s always searching for space, he’s always in and around the box. He reacted well for his goal,” he told MUTV.

Owen revealed that he’s glad to be playing with top class players again after an unsuccessful few years at Newcastle.

“It’s just nice to play with players who are on your wavelength, spotting your runs and are just class players,”

“Just to get off the mark for the season is nice, and it’s probably doubly good for me as it’s my first game as well.”

United will play the same team on Monday after cancelling the Indonesian leg of their tour of Asia following the bombing of two hotels in Jakarta.
