Player Ratings – CSKA moscow 0-1 Manchester United

posted on 21/10/09

A win in Moscow puts us in charge of the group and looking certain to qualify for the knockout  stages.

Let’s see how the players rated.

Van der Sar 8 - Never really troubled, but commanded the area well and did his job.

Neville 7 – Done for pace a couple of times, but recovered well each time and generally had a good game.

Ferdinand 7 - Solid at the back. Didn’t put a foot wrong.

Vidic 5  - Looked very uncertain and pout us in trouble a few times. Hope he’s back to his best on Sunday.

Fabio 8 - Excellent. it was like playing with two left wingers all night. Was rarely troubled by Krasic.

Valencia 7 – Wasteful at times, needs to cut inside more often as he’s very predictable at the moment, but got some good balls in and took his goal well.

Anderson 7 - Commanded the midfield. Played further forward than usual, but adapted well and even tracked back a few times.

Scholes 7 – Nothing special from him. A few good long balls to the wings, but kept possession well. Only completed 88% of his passes tonight. Must work harder

O’ Shea 7 - Didn’t notice him much to be honest, but didn’t notice any mistakes so he must have done okay.

Nani 7 - Threatened on a few occasions, put some good crosses in and would have scored if not for the brilliant Akinfeev.

Berbatov 5 – Moped about up front, moaning at his team mates instead of trying to actually get himself into a good position to win the ball or score. Disappointing.

Subs:

Brown 6 - Did well. Dominated aerially.

Owen 5 - Still not firing on all cylinders. Will he ever?

Carrick 6 - Did well when he came on, if only for a few minutes. Won the ball back and started a couple of attacks.

  1. What do you want Berbatov to do, he was getting hardly any supply all game as we were just popping the balls over the fullbacks, he set up the goal as well as setting up Anderson amazing well, i think your assessment is ridiculous tbh.

  2. that is ridiculous for berbatov, he should have got at least seven, he tried to set up goals and showed skill throughout the match especially when he flicked it to valencia before the shot that hit the bar. and got the assist so that deserves a 7

  3. I think a 6 is fair for Berba.

  4. I think Berbatov is the most sluggish attacker in the premier league. I have been watching him since joining the MU, and found in him a complete lack of commitment and performance below average.I sometimes what Sir Alex has seen in his play that he is always in the first eleven. Sir Alex might be trying to justify by fielding him but Berbatrov does not merrit a place in Man united. I think Sir Alex should sit down and review the tapes of matches Berbatrov has played. he will realize that he does not make up to 10 miles in all the time he spents on the field. He touches the ball less than 15 times in each, which makes him less than thread to the defense of the other team. Man u. can better play ten without Berbatrov and produce a good result . While he is on the field , he is a liability to his team and does not inspire his team mates as no work is done up front. I’m as many disappointed with his play. I have followed MU for the last 12 years and have never seen an attacker so sluggish in our great team. Sir Alex should stop putting a blind eye to this poor performance or giving deaf ears to comments made about this player.
We all want to see MAN U. fire back when they should.
My statistics on matches he played in my next comments. The number shirt he wears means he has the responsibility to deliver the goals. He dosn’t go for the ball, he doesn’t position himself to get the ball. He has never, I say never attempted to recover a baal he has been robbed off.

  5. oh micheal owens little,
but he knows how to score,
and when we played man city,
    he banged in number 4,
he used to be a scouser,
but knows that they are wank,
and when we win the premiership
he’ll say that im a manc!!!

Something I heard at Barnsley tuesday, I wondered if it would catch on!

  7. Even before we lost Tevez, I have been saying Dimischief Berbaflop is too slow to be a United player. “Where is Harry Rednapp to tell Berba how is Granny is more pacy than him”. Or maybe the SAF strategy is to have someone to bring on after the other teams have been run ragged… I recall always joking with my Arsenal friends about their players having a Friday sex party before Saturday’s games. I can’t believe Giggs put Berbastop to shame when he’s on the pitch. He’s got killer touch and talent but the Gods must have given him prematurely to his mum before they recall pace is needed to make his quality count. I just hope to God we got Dzeko or Other Sharp pacy shooter more accurate than Rooney in the box area with the gift mistakenly bestow on Berbasnub.
