Recent reports have suggested a rift has appeared between Sir Alex Ferguson and Anderson. The Brazilian midfielder was reported to be upset by being left out of the team for the Community Shield and had spat his dummy out. Fergie has rubbished the speculation.

For the last three years there has been no debate about who takes United’s free kicks. Whether from long or short distance, Ronaldo was the man to step up and strike the ball. His departure has left our options open and there are quite a few candidates for the job.
