Which players are on your transfer wishlist for the coming season? I personally think we have a solid backline, and one of the best attacking lineups in the premiership.

All we need to do is strengthen our inexperienced mid field. Someone like Gattusso would be ideal imo.

Mahamadou Diarra would be a good buy too, pricey nevertheless.

Let's see how much Glazer is willing to spend on transfers. That record shirt sponsorship deal should help too.

Yeah, I had been thinking about him too. He has been one of the most underrated players to have played for England in the recent times, primarily due to two reasons : He's partly Canadian, and he plays his club football outside of England.

He really turned in a great performance against Portugal, and if he can be a consistent player, then he should be a good buy for us.

I must admit, he did change my opinion about him following the Portugal performance. I didn't slam him like most did before that - I thought he was better than that. But either way, he's gone up in my eyes after that game.

If he plays like that all the time, I'm all for going after him.

Even though i like Riquelme, i dont want him, he would be Veron II. Diarra is over-rated. Mascherano had a good WC and looks like he could be a useful addition.

Also certainly not Hargreveas, because he had 2 good games for England means we should buy him, I think not.

Pirlo would be amazing if Ac were to be relegated as would Gattuso.
Torres is good, but not a priority
I think we'll get:

Riquelme (15m)
Torres(25m)
Gattuso(10m)
Hargreaves(5m) :(

I want us to get
Gattuso(10m)
Mascherano(12m)
Cannavaro(juve situation)

Luxury...

I love these...

United's main problem is obviously in central midfield, so the main transfer targets should fit into those positions. Of course the transfer situation would rely on the futures of Ruud and Ronaldo, so I'll post a few scenarios:

1. No one leaves

+ Juan Roman Riquelme (Villareal, Spain)
Fantastic playmaker with great physique to match.
Extreme vision and killer passes. Set pieces / Freekick specialist.

+ Gennaro Gattuso (AC Milan, Italy)
Midfield dynamo in the Keane-mold. 27; and experienced at that.
With that engine, he still has 5 years in him. Great defensive player.

+ Kristoffer Haestad (IK Start, Norway)
Young norwegian international with an unbelievable engine. Tenacious, fit and skilled.
Ripped Andrea Pirlo to shreds in Norways WC-qualifier against Italy.
A man to fill Gattuso's boots in the long run.

+ Nuri Sahin
17 year old turkish wonderkid. Awesome technical abilities, INCL. the end product.
Creative midfielder/winger/support striker(?) Could be trained for the future.

If not Riquelme, then Deco or Källstrom (Källstrom; swedish, plays in France.)
If not Gattuso, then Cambiasso/Hargreaves/Mascherano/Carrick (in that order)

2. Ruud leaves, Ronaldo stays.

+ Same as above
+ Fernando Torres (Atletico Madrid, Spain)
Young, great physique, very skilled and a proven dangerman. Aerial ability.
Would really blossom under Fergie.

If not Torres, then Trezeguet? or Ronaldo from Real ;) LOL

3. Ruud stays, Ronaldo leaves.

+ Same as the first scenario.
+ Joaquin, Vicente or Lennon.

4. Both leave.

+ Same as the first scenario.
+ Torres, etc.
+ Joaquin etc.

I sure hope they would move on Riquelme though...

players between the big 4 in england would never swap teams i think unless the situation is very unique like in ashley coles case..

Two midifelders sounds good. One who is defensive and one who is creative but quick on the ball( More like aimar than riquelme).

If ruud goes then a striker wouldn't be a bad idea as well

yup think that funds look short though so most realistically they should sell RVN to Bayern for Hargreives + cash & bring in Carrick.Total cost'll be probs around 25m for both which is realistic keeping in mind the sale of Mikel & RVN

Dream mid field would be Mascherrano diarra or Gatusso but those look like very far off targets..... Getin very frustrated with lack of activity in the market though & fergies statement that he'll be happy with the current bunch of players....

Yeah, you do have a valid point there RD. I mean, we've been in the hunt for players even before the WC and i just fail to understand why we haven't been able to sign on any new players. Is it that we are offering too less wages?? Is it because we are missing someone like Kenyon?

#39 ·
its because:
1)when players come to england manshester is a lesss attractive option than london
2)Fergie has developed a reputation of being tough on foreign imports
3) Our wage structure cannot match chelsea.s
4) Our transfer budget cannot match the big clubs anymore or at leastthats how it seems

Cafu ? Not sure why we'd want an old player like Cafu when we already have some one like Neville.
gattuso or diarra may be a good signing.
carrick may be a good player but is not worth above 16 million pounds.
cafu stinks

Wishlist:

Top class DM ballbreaker:
Mascherano, (Diarra, Gattuso would be fine)

Young mobile proven(ish) English player:
Nolan (Parker, Reo-Coker fine)

Young Pacey Striker to replace Ruud:
Torres (As readily Tevez if available, currently having problems at club)

well actually i would like to see carrick, but not for the fee asked.....to replace RVN we can look for juventus stars such as zlatan and trezeguet.....in midfield i would love to have javier mascherano, just as i would love to c ronaldo leave and aaron lennon step in for him....nd maybe kieran richardson should be given a chance, last year in the CL group stages he played him as a full back nd did ok...so y not try him this season, nd from then either u loose him or will have found urself a left winger for the years to come.

I wonder...

Now that Real have indicated their interest in signing Diarra, will that make up other central midfielder's minds about their possible moves.

I'm thinking about Mascherano in particular. He was mooted, as was Diarra, to be waiting for offers from Real.

It seems like Fergie is trying to finalise another transfer before commiting to Senna. By that I mean, if this other transfer doesn't come off (fergie is keeping cards close to his chest on this one), then we sign Senna.

We've been linked to a lot of players alright Lawrence. But not Hargreaves. I know some people don't rate him. But I do and would love to see him at Utd...

But we can only speculate until the 19th.

i don't see y we should get rid of ronaldo he's our best young player apart from Rooney. i would like to see lennon aswell but i think it would take a lot of money to get him as he is tottenhams best youth player.

If we sign Hargreves for 13-17 million we won't have a chance of getting F.torres or C.Teves what is frustrating as i think saha is not quite good enough this season to fill the boots of Ruud. i think january will be the time we might move for a striker. i'll be looking forward to the prospects of a good young striker.
