Inter Misfit Adriano: I Quit
9 Apr 2009
The Emperor has sensationally confirmed that he wants to momentarily part ways with football.

Inter’s Brazilian striker Adriano has stunned the football world by declaring that he wants to quit football for the time being to allow himself to sort his own personal issues out.

This latest saga came about when the ‘Emperor’, who was supposed to return to Italy last weekend following the international break, failed to do so, as he supposedly missed his initial flight.

He has been with his family in Brazil ever since, and he has also just spoken in a press conference where he made these sensational claims concerning his immediate future.

“Right now, I am only thinking about my health,” Adriano confessed to Sky Sport24.

“This is my reasoning behind why I want to stop playing football, at least temporarily anyway.

“I have lost the passion to play,” Adriano added, in relation to the fact that he is solely focused on dealing with his own personal problems for now.

The 27-year-old went on to discuss his current contract with the Nerazzurri, and that he is prepared to sacrifice that as well.

“I am prepared to give up the money of my salary if need be.”

Recent reports have suggested that Adriano is suffering from a form of depression since his recent break up with his girlfriend. If this is to be the case, then hopefully for his sake he can make a speedy recovery.

Such a shame that someone with so much talent is totally wasted. Hope he gets better soon and gets back to his old form.

Looks like someone is going to be in the Pub more often :whistling:

Seriously though, he was a good player, I don't think any other player had as powerful a left foot as him.. He had all the attributes to be a World Class Striker, but he never reached those heights really.. Still he was a top player and when he was on song, he was a brillant player to watch..!

Like you said Manc, he had so much talent and hopefully he does come back to form soon..!

How can you possibly make these comments when you know nothing about his personal problems. And for the record his father died a short time ago and thats part of what started his depression.

His dead died, and that sent him into this downwards spiral. I doubt this has anything to do with his breaking up with girlfriend. He clearly hasn't gotten over his father.

Such a shame. Until like 2 or so years ago, he had a record of like 25 odd goals in 30 something games for Brazil. So much talent, what a shame. Maybe if his father was still alive, he'd probably be amongst the best footballers on the planet right now.

Yeah since his father died he has been going in a downward spiral, but Probably the brake up with his girlfriend was the final blow, hopefully he can get his career back on track because he is very very good when on form.

When the people you most care about depart you, you don't care about money or what your passionate about. How did come up with this conclusion?
