Afonso Alves? the star which would make it easy for middlesbrough, what an joke, by me.

He came from Heerenveen some while ago for a big sum of around 13£ and what of ive seen he hasnt done anything. In Heerenveen he pumped in goals and some of us may remember the time he did 7 goals in a game? but it was against some weak teams he did those goals, and if you ask me Premier League is a waaay to big gap.

He struggled with his manager, missed trainings, games and was by the press " extremely hard " to manage.

Will he do better, or is he just a flop?

And if some have an other opinion from some other game you guys have seen with him a may be a little wrong.


I didnt know if i should post this topic in " the pub " or " transfer talk ", i choosed this cause it wasnt so long ago he change club.

to early to judge. give him some time. i know the gap in leagues is a big change but any player that can score 7 in a professional game must have an eye for goal?

i like middlesborough. theyv got a wiked chairman over there that will always give his managers suitable funds and time, how it should be

like every1 else (apart from our boy Anderson!!) it takes at least a year for most Brazilian/S American/Exotic players to adapt to english: football (pace) (physical aspect), weather, culture, etc.................

Edu took two years until he showed form at arsenal, he turned out to be a top player! Cristiano, Drogba, Henry etc.. all took time to adapt! some longer than others!

If they have the talent which this guy does posess (he aint a brazilian international for nothing!!) he will show some potential next season!!

Alves was pathetic against Cardiff in the FA Cup but in his defence he didn't look fully fit and I'm sure he was surprised by the physicality of the English game.

ive been saying ever since people started suggesting him as a signing that he is just a big flop, if any one saw the copa america last year will have to agree that he was awfull he has no skill, it just shows how weak the dutch league is even though the dutch national team is quality.
