Anderson concern for Sir Alex

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is concerned that £17 million signing Anderson is some way from being a first team regular.

The Guardian says Ferguson had angry words with the entire team after Wednesday's Carling Cup defeat at home to Coventry City, but he was particularly aggrieved about Anderson's ineffectual display and is concerned at how the new arrival is struggling to make a favorable impression.

Anderson suffered the ignominy of being substituted at half-time in his only Premier League appearance, the 1-0 victory over Sunderland on September 1, but Ferguson expected the attacking midfielder to play an important role in the experimental and youthful side he chose against Coventry. Instead, Anderson was one of the weaker players, often off the pace and, most disappointingly for his manager, showing little desire.

Ferguson has told his colleagues it may be a year before the player, a full Brazil international, is ready to seriously challenge for a first-team place, an astonishing admission given the amount of money it took to sign him from Porto.

He will either be brilliant like we know he can be or he will collapse un der the pressure of British media and British attitude toward success.

ie if Liverpool win league everyone hate them, Chelsea win league everyone hate them.......for 2 years everyone cheer on United to knock down Chelsea and they do this - then everyone hate United again !!!

If England team win lose or draw newspaper give them plenty headaches so now they will NEVER win any tournament this England team - they have no desire or ambition beecause this is beaten from them by the press.

Anderson must be strong and ignore the papers - maybe Fergie tell him not to read this bull that they write - I hope so because he will become another South American flop for the scrap heap in the Prem League I promise you........
I have faith in Anderson, He will come good, He is only 19 and he is still adapting to the new country, Team, team mates, Language. Only time will tell. "Fingers Crossed"
When Ferguson bought Anderson he made it clear that he was one for the future. Cristano Ronaldo took 2 years to settle in at United and look at him now! Anderson needs time and I never expected him to be a 1st team regular in his 1st season.

Even against Coventry he showed glimpses of his superb techinical ability. United is the best place for him to develop his outstanding talent. I have total faith in the coaches at United and truly believe he will be an awesome player for us given time.
I reckon he should hide behind Nani a bit. People continually address those two with each other, the two youngsters from portugal. Nani can handle the pressure better than Anderson it seems, and he's already scored against Tottenham so he is now confident. Anderson needs to just focus on playing and forget the pressure of being a signing and expected to perform.
He needs to push himself to become the best that he can be-hes at the best club for developing young talent, but it starts with him. the guardian mentioned a lack of desire. somthing i noticed when watching him in the copa a while back.
you cant stroll through games in this league. you have to push yourself, thats where veron went wrong. hes a skillful player he should be looking for the ball and revelling when he gets it.
At the end of the day time will tell.....
A lot of people have been quick to jump the gun and judge Anderson so quickly, but what they've failed to take note of is the fact he's only 19, he can't speak english and he also needs time to adjust to the climate. Give two seasons and I'm sure we'll see the best of him, I don't believe for a second that fergie meant what he said about being disappointed by him, surely he knows all the factors are weighed against the fella.

Nobody on here has judged him - thats the main thing - everyone said he will maybe sink or swim but the future is in his hands - no monkey business in this Prem League no matter who you are !!!!

Do the job or your gone !!!

It's his chance he wanted now so come on Mr Anderson make them all WRONG :p
Interestingly, Fergie has criticised all of the youngsters who played against Coventry except Pique and Anderson.

He also said that the League Cup was the only real opportunity to give the youngsters football so most will now have to go out on loan in January...

"Pique was excellent on Wednesday. He was our best player along with Anderson. We'll probably keep Simpson as he can play both full-back positions. But I'm maybe looking at the rest going on loan as they need to play football."

he hasn't had much play and he's still young so who knows what might happen
Give him time, he will soon come good. Once he settles we will all see the real anderson ;)
