Seydou Keita has completed his widely expected transfer from Sevilla to Barcelona after the Catalan club met his buy-out clause to make him their first signing of the season.
Both the Blaugrana and the Andalucian outfit announced the deal on their official websites following the player's decision to send a fax cancelling his employment contract.
That move meant that Barça will now have to pay €14m as part of the terms of the clause in his contract only a year after he signed for Sevilla for €4m from Lens.
Keita has put pen-to-paper on a four-year contract at the club's offices in Barcelona and the deal sees his new buy-out stand at a staggering €90m.
During his one season at Sevilla, the 28-year-old midfielder enforcer impressed alongside Christian Poulsen, who Bará were also rumoured to be watching, and that has earned him a high profile move.
After starting out with a youth club in his native Mali, Keita joined Olympique Marseille in 1997 and then moved on to Lorient after just one season l'OM's first team.
A two-year stint Stade du Moustoir followed before he moved to Lens in 2002 and enjoyed a very successful five-year stay where he became captain of Les Sang et Or
Keita's arrival at Barça should now spell the end of Deco's time at Camp Nou amid reports that he is set to move to Inter to rejoin his former coach José Mournho at the San Siro.
