In all honestly I think it's an insult to Law having RVN ahead of him in the greatest team.

No matter how you compare them, Law takes it.

Won more. Scored more* and stayed for longer.

*Law scored on average every 1.8 games for us, RVN scored every 1.6 games so thats close too.

Who cares?

RVN was one of our best strikers. Why can't people vote for him? Got nothing to do if he was the focal point or anything
Maybe Cantona or Solksjaer would have scored more if they had Rooney Ronaldo, Giggs and Scholes looking to pass to them for 90 minutes a game? All RVN did was score, no magic, no inspiration and certainly no Champions Leagues.

Its all about generations obviously people will v ote eric they saw him play , not many had the pleasure to see the lawman at his peak .
For me ruud had a great goals per game ratio especially in europe he was awesome , i just cannot see how people can criticise him , fergie played him as a lone striker most of the time without any help

you do realise that solskjaer had played scholes and giggs as same as cantona did at some stage ?
you do realise that ruud only played 3 seasons with rooney (2 with rooney) and ronaldo and his best scoring records were before them ?

all what rvn did was scoring okay

wait a sec... isn't thats the strikers job ?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forward_(association_football)

you do realise that rooney scored lots with ruud ?
he scored 36 in his ruud time while
this season he scored 16 (4 against a shitty team in a shitty world cup i won't count them) despite playing with a creative striker whos game isn't only based on goalscoring
ruud used to create the space rooney needs to score, opens the play for him and give him rebounds to score from as most of his shots were on target

no magic ?

torres does magic ?
eto'o ?

want magic go watch zlatan overratedobitch
clinical finishing itself is a magic for me

no inspiration ?
am sure kids in netherland play footie in the street saying that they want to grow up to be like ruud
he is one of their finest players ever and deffo from the nation top 15 finest players if not top 10

no champions league ?

on his first season we reached the semis
and on his era our team was much older than now
the whole team wasn't as good as its right now
and we had a troublesome defence (imo defence in the 3 seasons was our gate to success in europe)

influence wise cantona was the greatest striker under fergie
goalscoring wise ruud is the greatest in fergies era and top 3 in united's history

What?

Law:
1 European Cup.
2 League titles.
1 FA Cup.
Balon D'or winner.

Van Nistlerooy:
1 League title.
1 FA Cup.
Agreed. Just wondering what relevance it has. Ruud was in the team during a transitional period and still managed to score more goals on average than Law.

John O' Shea has won a few premier league titles, that doesn't make him better than Gerrard. Trophy haul doesn't come into it.

Ruud for 3 years was awesome.

After that he became 1 demensional, and it actually affected the team as we became predictable.

spot on mate , it is not to discuss who won the most trophies but who was the deadliest striker.
Some strikers went through their whole career with out too much success i mean just look at shearer lol

Of course the amount of trophies comes into it. Talent, loyalty, impact and success are the things you look at when comparing players.

Law beats him in all those categories.

Law also arrived when we were in a transition period, when we were rebuilding after Munich yet he still banged in the goals.

no matter what you think of ruud

he is deffo from our top 5 ever and he would would have scored lots more if he wasn't injured when we wanted to sign him in 2000 and if he didn't fall out with fergie/ronaldo/carlos and left us in 2006

1.law
2.cantona
3.ruud
4.viollet

Yet he still couldn't beat his goal to game ratio. Funny that huh?

Ruud didn't become one dimensional by himself, the team became one dimensional. Blaming one player for the shape of a team is a bit of a strange one.

and ruud scored more blazzing goals than torres's

i said finishing is magic and torres have some magical moments and goals

but i used torres as an example coz hes a great player who don't dribble and do lots of tricks and it was a replay to justice's comment about ruud have no magic
