There are two chippies at the top of Sir Matt Busby Way, turn right. I have eaten in both with no ill effects!!! There is a sandwich bar too, on the corner I think, but not used. Greasy burgers abound on the streets - to be avoided at all costs.

I've been eating burgers from Silcocks on Victoria Place (next to the Tulip) for getting on for thirty years and I've never suffered any ill-effects.
