Paul Ince has become the first black English manager in the Premier League after he was appointed Blackburn boss.

Ince, who has been given a three-year deal, was Rovers' number one target after Mark Hughes left Ewood Park.

In his first season with MK Dons, Ince, 40, got them to the League Two title and the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

Frenchman Jean Tigana with Fulham and Ruud Gullit with Chelsea and Newcastle are the only other two black managers to have managed in the Premier League.

Ince will be officially presented as Blackburn's manager on Tuesday.

Last week the Premier League gave Rovers dispensation over Ince's failure to hold a Uefa Pro Licence.

The former West Ham, Manchester United, Inter Milan, Liverpool and England midfielder will be allowed two years to earn his licence.

He has excelled in such a short time in management.
He performed heroics keeping Macclesfield in the league
and did amazing at Mk Dons with promotion and a Wembley win.
Another of Fergie's old players joins him in the Premiership.
Good luck Guv'nor.

saw highlights of the ipswich 9-0 and ince in that game was quality.

why did people hate him. was it the fact he went to play for liverpool. Blackburn away to West Ham will be interesting as they absolutely detest him after him having pics of him with a united shirt before he signed for us.

Ince was top player at United and helped us to league titles and our first domestic double.

You're Ron to a loser, Ferguson

PAUL INCE last night delivered a double blow to his old Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson.

Blackburn's new manager revealed he will tell Fergie to clear off if he comes hunting for £10million-rated Paraguayan striker Roque Santa Cruz.

And he also believes United will be forced to grant Cristiano Ronaldo his dream of a move to Real Madrid this summer.

Ince revealed he got a text message saying congratulations from Ferguson this week after landing the Ewood Park job.

But that goodwill gesture will count for nothing if Fergie starts chasing his top Rovers marksman.

Ince said: “If he comes on asking about Santa Cruz then I'll just tell him he's not having him.

"I had a text off Sir Alex to say ‘Congratulations, well done' as I've had off numerous people.

"But I'm under no illusions, I'm the enemy now.â€

While Ince fights to keep his stars, he believes United will eventually cave in on £80m-rated Cristiano Ronaldo and let him go to Spain.

He said: “Fergie has made him into the player he is.

"But it's his dream and if you dream about something and get the chance, it becomes difficult for United. It's become messy now — and that's sad.â€

Ince is not under pressure to sell Santa Cruz and David Bentley.

Ince said: “You want to keep your best players. But if one of the top four came in for Benley, we'd have to talk with the chairman.â€
