Blues brush Pompey aside

Luiz Felipe Scolari enjoyed the perfect start to his Stamford Bridge reign as Chelsea swept to an impressive 4-0 victory over Portsmouth.

A woeful defensive display from the FA Cup finalists contributed to their downfall but, inspired by the promptings of new signing Deco, Chelsea put down an early marker to their title rivals.

The Blues took the lead on 12 minutes when Joe Cole finished clinically past David James following a superb pass from Michael Ballack.

Nicolas Anelka then headed home from close range after poor goalkeeping from James and Frank Lampard celebrated his new contract by slamming home a penalty in first-half injury-time after Sylvain Distin was penalised for handball.

Pompey tightened up for most of the second half before Deco capped an eye-catching debut with a goal a minute from time when his vicious shot from 25 yards was helped into the net by Jam

I had James and Johnson in my fantasy football team...

****.
Thank god I did not have any Pompey players on my fantasy team!

I watched the game and Deco looked great and got man of the match so yeah his still got it and for 8m pounds looks like a steal!
Unfortunately, they looked very good. Perhaps Pompey aren't yet up to par, but Chelsea looked revitalised under their new boss. Boswinga looked decent at right-back. And what about Deco in midfield? For 8 million.. he could turn out to be a great signing for them. I was hoping he might be another Shevchenko...
They're showing patches of play for the kindof football they were accused of neglecting.. the so-0called "Brazil style" of football. Perhpas it is too early to say this. But anyway, they looked pretty sharp today,Deco in particular....queuing up for another tight season again maybe !!
What did their formation look like? Their match report had Obi,Ballack,J.Cole,Deco and Lampard in the midfield. How'd that work out with only one natural wide guy?

Edit: Ballack was injured in 37th, but I'd still like to know what their formation looked like.
I have 3 bloody Tottenham players in my fantasy team, this will be getting changed as soon as I think, ill rob some Chelsea ones seen as they probably won't lose a game until next year.
Typical!!!!

Portsmouth are a disgrace. They came out against us in the FA Cup last season and played as if their lives depended on it and then sit on their arses and let Chelsea walk all over them. I guarantee if they were playing at OT against us today they would have showed some passion and ran their socks off.

Sort yer team out 'Arry FFS!
