Manchester United striker Fraizer Campbell has said he may go back out on loan if he cannot hold down a regular place in the starting line-up at Old Trafford.
Campbell, 20, started the opening game of the Premier League season against Newcastle on Sunday alongside Wayne Rooney after Carlos Tevez travelled back to Argentina due to family reasons.
Campbell helped Hull City gain promotion to the top flight last season during a long-term loan spell and Tigers boss Phil Brown is keen to have him back for this campaign.
Despite a decent league debut at Old Trafford he was denied a first league goal for the Red Devils by an excellent performance from Magpies goalkeeper Shay Given. The game ended 1-1 and United manager Alex Ferguson has since said he is looking to bring in another striker.
"If I keep starting at Man United then I don't see me being anywhere else, but circumstances might change," he said. "You've got to keep on improving, haven't you?
"I'm at a young age and if the games dry up then maybe I could go out on loan again.
"The loan experience worked out really well for me, but I honestly don't know what will happen in the next few months; all I can do is play it as it comes.
"Sir Alex has said that I'll get a few chances and told me to work on certain things in training.
"It's just a case of seeing what happens and taking your chance when you get it."
Brown said he hoped Ferguson would allow Campbell to lead City's line in their quest for survival.
"Sir Alex Ferguson knows my intentions where Fraizer is concerned," he said.
"Hopefully it is in the same ball park as [his intentions]."
We haven't sign any striker yet, have we ?
Manucho didn't get his work permit yet, have he ?
Saha is injured and may be leave, so we have only 3 strikers
so campbell will get his chance as a sub in the last minutes of the match
and he will play all dry UCL/easy EPL/cup matches.
imo we should keep him until we sign somebody (something will not happen)
