Manchester United striker Fraizer Campbell has said he may go back out on loan if he cannot hold down a regular place in the starting line-up at Old Trafford.

Campbell, 20, started the opening game of the Premier League season against Newcastle on Sunday alongside Wayne Rooney after Carlos Tevez travelled back to Argentina due to family reasons.

Campbell helped Hull City gain promotion to the top flight last season during a long-term loan spell and Tigers boss Phil Brown is keen to have him back for this campaign.

Despite a decent league debut at Old Trafford he was denied a first league goal for the Red Devils by an excellent performance from Magpies goalkeeper Shay Given. The game ended 1-1 and United manager Alex Ferguson has since said he is looking to bring in another striker.

"If I keep starting at Man United then I don't see me being anywhere else, but circumstances might change," he said. "You've got to keep on improving, haven't you?

"I'm at a young age and if the games dry up then maybe I could go out on loan again.

"The loan experience worked out really well for me, but I honestly don't know what will happen in the next few months; all I can do is play it as it comes.

"Sir Alex has said that I'll get a few chances and told me to work on certain things in training.

"It's just a case of seeing what happens and taking your chance when you get it."

Brown said he hoped Ferguson would allow Campbell to lead City's line in their quest for survival.

"Sir Alex Ferguson knows my intentions where Fraizer is concerned," he said.

"Hopefully it is in the same ball park as [his intentions]."

We haven't sign any striker yet, have we ?
Manucho didn't get his work permit yet, have he ?
Saha is injured and may be leave, so we have only 3 strikers
so campbell will get his chance as a sub in the last minutes of the match
and he will play all dry UCL/easy EPL/cup matches.
imo we should keep him until we sign somebody (something will not happen)

Only if we ends up with additional striker then i dont mind he going on loan..Sir alex said he is looking for four strikers which sadly i dont think he include Saha in it. Frankly i can see Campbell as part of SAF plan this season..asking for a regular placing might be too much to ask for thou especially when Rooney and Tevez are fit. I cant see him being out on loan if we didnt manage to sign anyone..that is just one risky move to make.

i think it would do good for him but as sity said only if we sign an additional striker...as for campbell as a player - cant see him having future on here...average striker and that is problem with young strikers actually - you cant be average, you cant be very good ( rossi) - you have to be extraordinary to succeed on the highest level

he never got a shot on target
okay rossi is class with viarreal but with us he was cap cuz he is no EPL material
rossi scored more than campbell both in reserves and in EPL ! and rossi had to find his place amoung the likes of rvn, saha, rooney, ole

he had a chance that was luckily saved
other shot the was saved brilliantly by Given
and his third shot was decent but at least at target as all of his chances
he never would have been given the chance had everyone stayed fit, unlike rossi who was so talented that he managed to play some matches while the squad was full

ahh this make me wonder why he was the last used sub at newcastle :)
listen abo - rossi has impressed zola too and he's a very good player mate - and his reserves record proves that he was 10 times better than campbell.... he plays very good for italian youth team - believe me - campbell is nowhere near rossi

but Campbell is going to have bigger chance imo
is rossi was loaned for a championship team to play regular footy he would have been much better instead of loaning him to newcastle and parma to play as unused sub or playing once a month

Manchester United set for £5m STAR bid: What should Sir Alex do?

Hull City boss Phil Brown wants to sign Manchester United striker Fraizer Campbell in a permanent deal. The Daily Mail says Brown will move with a £5million offer for Campbell when Manchester United finally land Dimitar Berbatov.
The England Under-21 striker was a huge hit at the KC Stadium during a loan spell last season, however Sir Alex Ferguson has so far blocked any move because of his lack of genuine strikers in his squad.
Brown ideally wants two new forwards and sees Campbell’s pace as a key asset that could keep his team in the Barclays Premier League. (tribalfootball.com)

If Sir Alex signs Dimitar Berbatov, then he could probably afford to let Frazier go, but should he? The 20-year-old has shown what he is capable of during his loan spell at City last season, and whilst he hasn’t set the world alight in a United shirt, he clearly has the potential to become a big success.

It may be the Huddersfield lad himself who will have to make a tough decision. He could continue to fight for his shot in the first team, but when the Bulgarian does arrive at Old Trafford, the Englishman’s chances will be few and far between. If he left for to join the Tigers, he would be a big fish in a small pond, but at least he would be in the Premier League and he is dearly loved by the KC faithful.

Hull want Campbell
