Who was at the match? Who did / didn't get a ticket? Anybody got any funny stories from the day, maybe I bumped into you at some stage...

My story... after a serious night of drinking we set off from Edgware road with no tickets armed with cans of Carling (of course) and bank cards... we were 3 Irish and 1 Manc strong and some American bird followed us...

Got to Wembley station at about 1pm (possibly earlier) ... immediately broke into U-N-I-T-E-D ... had a bit of banter with some Spurs fans on the train over... no messing from them (yet)

Checked out Wembely way for an idea of how much tickets were going for ... a lot!

Got more cans in some shop, went up to the Torch and drank outside with a few other United lads, got a good sing song started up and had a bit of banter with the guys there... two of my mates went down to get tickets, me and my other mate stayed around the torch for a bit, they closed the doors so we were worried we weren't gonna see the match... a bunch of United fans gathered outside a pub (cant remember the name of it) nearer to Wembely , it was beside a bookies... the doors were shut but we had heard we would be let in!

In we went ALL United fans! had a blast! One of the characters from Shameless was even there! we were singing non stop...

there was no trouble at all, however the Cops came in just before penalties shut off the tvs and very roughly threw us all out... made no sense why they did that!

so we all legged it into the bookies next door and got the singing going again! you could see the fear on the workers faces praying United would win!! of course we did and the singing went outside... rest is blurry.. i did go back to the Torch to meet my mates, Spurs fans threw bottles at the pub... went back to the pub we were in for more singing and drinking...

Scumbag Spurs fans started on us on the tube... talked my way out of it thank god!

All in all a great day!!!!!!!!!!!! any1 else in that bookies? it was ****in classic!!

Chubb club. Watching the lad next to us get hammered. He still remembered all the words to the "if you come from Manchester you're sure to be a blue" song but could hardly stand straight, it was impressive!

yeah was a good day. my cousin was down from manc for the weekend so i went with him instead of meeting my united boys. i had been ill all week so my dad was being a bit strict on me, initially he told me i couldn't go but i laughed him off so he decided to give us a lift instead of us getting the train and we got quite close then got out and walked. we came across the torch without really meaning to and got a few cans and had a nice sing song and met some mates and familiar faces from united games.
then we got off on the escort singing the torres song quite repeatedly. me and my mate were jumping up and down and i had a beer in my hand so some overzealous cop grabbed us and threw us against a wall, chucking my beer out of my hand. i had never been in this position before so when he said "you can think again if you think you're going to the game" i was panicking and blurted out, "i don't want to cause any trouble" and he walked off and left us to go on.

view in the ground was spectacular. i was pretty much on the halfway line, top tier, near the back and the view was spectacular. unlike old trafford, the ground is much more open so you don't feel as if you have a big roof coming down over you and the view is great.

overall, a great day for my first cup final!

The day started nice and early for me. I was heading down in the car with my dad and a couple of other usual away day lads. Started the trip down just a casual chat in the car and a few beers for us lads, my dad couldn't join in at this point as he was at the wheel :thumbsdownsmileyani

Got to the tube station about 11.30ish and arrived at the top of Wembley Way at about 11.50am. On a child ticket of course ;)

Headed straight down to The Torch but we were told we weren't allowed in with our cans, so we decided to join the rest of the lads on what we named 'budget zone' the area where everyone was driniking cans.

A few more pints and the songs got going. Me and the lads I was with were trying to get the place going with 33 years etc but it wasn't happening yet. At this point we grabbed another crate from the handly placed Asda on the corner and my dad went off to meet his mates.

Atmosphere had picked up quite a bit as had our drinking pace, which meant I was on top of a pole at this point singing at the top of my voice

A few more beers later it was time to head off unfortunatly as it was getting closer and closer to kick off. Walking down Wembley Way got a bit exciting as a bit of aggro kicked off and a few but nothing too much to note, especially considering what happened at The Torch after the game.

Safely into Wembley and the escalators break. I can honestly say it felt worse than walking up to Tier 3 as I was sat practically on the half way line and 5 rows from the back.

I don't need to explain the game as I'm guessing all of you have seen it. Atmosphere wasn't too bad in all fairness compared to what I was expecting. I was glad to say some songs got going by me that you wouldn't normally hear like tra la la la we all hate city and even viva Ken Barlow :p

Penalties were a bit tense but when they missed first, you always had the confidence we could win it.

Anderson slotted home and the League Cup was on its way to OT for only the 3rd time.

Out of the ground and into that ******* tube queue. I swear that thing gets longer everytime we go to Wembley. Back to the car though and grabbed some chips and waited to meet up with the others before heading back up the motorway home.

Highlights of the day included:

Argentina man at The Torch.
Jumping on the poles outside The Torch and using the sand box as our personal drum.
One of my mates getting caught trying a crafty jib and getting thrown out
Being close to the Spurs fans to take the ****
And of course seeing United lift another trophy.

Just found my ticket and I was 526 row 40 seat 374. So looks like I must have been really close to you lol.

You going to Fulham on Sat?

And Piazza he wasn't that much more drunk than any of us to be fair to him, I think he just caught the camera at the wrong time ;)

Lol top stuff...sounds like you've got some good mates giving up their Liverpool spares ;)

Yeh I'll be at Fulham. 2 of the lads in the pic got tickets off United suprisingly and we've managed to sort out 2 spares. We're getting into London really early as well so I expect to be mashed for the game and dancing on some tables the same as Derby away in the last round :D

I've never been to Craven Cottage but I hear theres a boozer there that we take over every year, I forget what its called. I expect we'll both be in there, if you see me come over for a chat if you like mate. If you recognise me from games chances are I will probably recognise you as well lol.

for the people who went, who won the battle of the fans in your opinion?

From the tv it sounded like we sung more frequently, but when Spurs sang 'Go Marching In' it sounded very impressive, probably mor so than our songs bar WND, which sounded awesome.

Iy was 52-48 to us at the start of ET, according to the sound checker thing.

yeah jd, will come over say hi if i get a chance. managed to get fulham in the league in the ballot 2 years running and its a nice enough away. no aggro and we get a lot of tickets so its usually a bit softer than say west ham or stoke. the boozer i think you mean is 8 bells, just on the corner near putney bridge station. you can usually hear the reds as you come out the tube :D

TM, to be honest, i reckoned all along that the fan battle was a fix. i believe it ended 50-50 and i think it was always bound to really. the spurs fans make quite a nice noise when they all sing " oh when the spurs" really slowly and altogether. i was pleasantly surprised by our atmosphere but its really so difficult to actually tell how much noise each side makes that there isn't really any likelihood that it was a real thing imo.

Nice one mate, might see you Saturday then!

Yeh 8 Bells is the one. If it's anything like the Crown and Cushion at Derby we're in for a treat :D Hopefully I might be going to the league game at Fulham as well this season because the lad whos sorted me for Fulham in the cup is on holiday that weekend and so probably won't need his tickets :)
