'I don't think United have another level to go to' - Terry

John Terry believes Manchester United have reached their peak and Chelsea
can regain the Premier League trophy.

United were European and domestic champions last term, with Chelsea runners-
up, but the Blues' captain believes his side can raise their game.

"I don't think United have another level to go to," said Terry, whose side have a
new manager this season in Brazil's Luiz Felipe Scolari.

"They had a lot of players at the peak of their form for the last two years."

Terry's comments come after United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said that the
majority of Chelsea's squad had reached an age where they were unlikely to
improve any further.

The Scot compared the current Stamford Bridge outfit to that of the Liverpool
team of the early 1990s, who slipped into decline after their 1990 title triumph,
and predicted that Chelsea are on the brink of a similar downturn.

But Terry has hit back and pinpointed several players at Old Trafford who he
thinks will be unable to match their performances of last season.

They include Cristiano Ronaldo, whose 42-goal haul underpinned United's double
success.

"Rio Ferdinand has been awesome for the last two years and Cristiano Ronaldo
was unbelievable - I don't think you'll see that again," Terry said.

"Wayne Rooney, Carlos Tevez, Ryan Giggs - they have all been fantastic.

"I think we can close the gap because Man United were at the very top of their
game last season.

"But we've been very close to them and we had injuries and a change of
manager."

Terry says he has been impressed with the business Scolari has conducted during
the transfer window.

He also believes a good start will be key if they are to wrestle the title from
United, who arguably face a tougher start in their Premier League defence.

"The new manager has come in and made a few changes. He's made some great
signings. Deco looks awesome so I'm excited to see him play," Terry said.

"We need to start well and get off to a flyer, just keep winning.

"Man United have a few tough games early on. Liverpool have made some good
signings and will be stronger this year. We need to focus.

"We have a good home record and if we can continue that and get off to a good
start we'll be all right."

1. We had just as many injuries as Chelsea did last season, plus we had some in the most important part of the season.

2. Anderson, Nani, Tevez and Hargreaves will be ven better than last year, while Rio is in his peak - why would his performances go down? Therefore we haven't peaked.

3. We would have won the laegue WAY before the last day is we hadn't had some shocking penalty decisions not given to us i.e Middlesborough, Blackburn etc.

4. We'll get a new striker so we'll have a bigger squad.

5. Kiss our Double winning asses :D

edit: I just realised, Ryan Giggs has won more trophies than Chelsea FC have!

you keep believing your own hype Mr Chelsea and one day it will surely be true.

Til then leave United to number 18. YOU CANT BUY CLASS, YOU CANT BUY HISTORY!!!

I think it would be better off for everyone, especially Terry, if he just shut him mouth and got on with the football ;)

Really who gives a donald duck what a loser like JT thinks . John Terry will always be remembered as the man who lost Chelsea the 2008 european champions league. He was one kick away from winning it for Chelsea and he bottled it , PERIOD . Ryan Giggs will always be remembered as the player who broke Sir Bobby Charlton's playing record for United by picking up his second European Cup Winners medal. Thats the difference between winners and losers .
JT may think he's the new Mourinho with his so called mind games but remember this we have the master . I'm sure Alex is frantically trying to think of something to say in response . They are all going to try and beat our ass this season but a least we are the ass to beat .

"Coming away without a trophy for the first time in four years was very disappointing for a club like ours. But the togetherness off the field was at a level I have never seen before."

What? Like ballack and drogba almost coming to blows over who was going to take a free kick? Oh yeah John, you were walking away in embarrassment at the time...

Keep on yapping Mr. Terry, you're an absolute genius...at getting United really fired up to kick your still-wet ass! :D
