Roma sporting director Bruno Conti has told fans to be patient as a new striker will arrive by the start of the new season.
The Giallorossi are currently strengthening ahead of the new season but signing a striker has, so far, proven illusive.
A number of players were touted including Fiorentina's Adrian Mutu but that possibility seems distant after the Romanian striker declared he would stay with La Viola.
Conti has now revealed that he is wheeling and dealing and a new hit-man should arrive soon.
“We have various going's on at the moment and we have been looking at different players,†Conti told Il Corriere Dello Sport.
“All the players we have been watching a top-class with the right qualities and technical abilities that we require.
“We have to wait, there is no rush at all and there are so many players who would like to come to Roma.
“We have also refused big offers from various clubs for Juan, Mexes and Cicinho.â€
The Olimpico-based outfit have also been linked with Real Madrid striker Julio “the beast†Baptista.
However, the Brazilian's price and wage demands may cause Roma to lose interest in him.
