Tottenham manager Juande Ramos is preparing a £15million bid for David Bentley this week, with the London factor likely to give him a vital advantage over rival bidders Aston Villa.

Bentley has told his new manager at Blackburn, Paul Ince, that he wants to quit the club after three seasons at Ewood Park, although Rovers are determined to get the highest price possible for the England midfielder.

bentley is a good player but spurs have enough midefielders as it is.. and have lennon on the right and i rate him better than bentley.. spurs are going to be a BIG threat next season as they got modric and dos santos and gomes and having ramos as the coach.. dodgy

I think he should go to Spurs.

Obviously, we don't know what Blackburn will be like under Paul Ince.

But Spurs are on the up, and I think next season, if their players gel reasonably quickly, they adapt to the Prem quickly and the Poo continue signing reasonably poor players, I can see Spurs coming close to breaking into the top 4 at Liverpoo's expense, though I'm not sure if they will gel and perform quickly enough.

And, I would pick Bentley over Lennon anyday of the week. Lennon is a lot quicker than Bentley, but Lennon has no final ball. Bentleys final ball is A LOT better, and his free kicks are very good.

I wouldnt say Spurs will be a big threat. They should be good enough to at least
challenge for a top 4 spot. They have made some great signings, have a great
manager and have some decent defenders at last.

Id pick Bentley over Lennon every time. Far better player with a arsenal
of assists and goals to his name.
Lennon made leave Spurs so the rumours go. Either way whoever buys him
have got themselves a winger of real quality.

i'd say whoever buys him have got themselves a £15m attitude problem, if he goes to spurs he's going for money and lets be honest thats why he wants a move in the first place.
Arrogant tosser, just my opinion :)

Tottenham open discussions with Blackburn
Last updated: 29th July 2008

Blackburn Rovers are holding negotiations with Tottenham over the proposed sale of David Bentley.

The England midfielder caught the eye of a number of clubs last season, with Aston Villa joining Spurs in the chase of the 23-year-old.

And Blackburn chairman John Williams, who has already rejected bids from Spurs and Villa, has now confirmed to Radio Lancashire that he has again been contacted by White Hart Lane representatives.

Bentley has hinted that he could be interested in a move away from Ewood Park in a bid to further his career and enhance his international credentials.

And Williams recently implied he could be willing to sell Bentley for the right price.

Tottenham may now be able to meet Blackburn's valuation of the former Arsenal man following Monday's sale of Robbie Keane to Liverpool.

look it...

Russian star Andrei Arshavin will arrive in London in the next couple of days for talks on a £19million transfer from Zenit St Petersburg to Tottenham.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy wants to move quickly to appease fans dismayed by the departure of Robbie Keane to Liverpool and the imminent exit of Dimitar Berbatov.

Winger David Bentley is expected to complete his £13m move from Blackburn by the weekend and Arshavin could be set to follow.

How many years have we been saying Spurs are on the up?

They've spent very poorly all in all in the last number of years, luckily Roy Keane is willing to cut a big chunk of their losses, Harry Redknapp did them a favour before, clearing out half their muck!!

realistically they are a pretty poor team, their main asset was their strike and thats being picked at at the moment!

Who? - David Bentley - Speculation
Where is he? - Blackburn Rovers
Who is he linked with? - Tottenham Hotspur

Blackburn Rovers chairman John Williams has confirmed that Rovers are locked in talks with Tottenham Hotspur about David Bentley's proposed transfer to White Hart Lane. The 23-year-old informed Rovers earlier in the summer of his wish to quit Ewood Park after three seasons with the club. Earlier this month Williams revealed he had received and rejected two bids - believed to be from Aston Villa and Tottenham - for the former Arsenal trainee. Williams has now told the BBC that, although the club have been in discussions with Spurs, he has yet to accept a bid for the England winger. Meanwhile, Rovers target Mark Bresciano insists he is happy to stay at Palermo. Paul Ince had been monitoring the 28-year-old Australian, who said: "I don't want to repeat last season, as I'm concentrated on Palermo and I will be happy to stay. I will work and prepare myself like a Palermo player and I have asked my agent not to call me unless there is a concrete approach. I want to stay as focused as possible, but if things have to change then I'll evaluate them as they happen."

I think the difference this time is that they have a quality manager. I don't think they'll crack the top 4 yet, but in the next 2/3 years under Ramos I can see them really making a push.

Am I the onlt one who thinks Bentley is very overrated? I think he's a good player, but no where near CL level.

On another note, how funny would it be if another team reported Spurs for tapping up one of there players? :D
