I'm sorry Manchester United wasn't in my blood. I only started to support them in 1982.
I never called you a glory hunter. I'm not taking points off you, I know many reds who are fantastic lads and have United in their blood which come from abroad like Ireland, Denmark and Norway.
I don't care if our support is made up of a load of different nationalities, but it's the home of MY team, the team I love with all my heart, being used as like it's Big Ben or some other tourist attraction. It isn't, it's a football ground built of passion, courage, youth and success.
I don't care if we sign world class players every year. Or what money we have to spend.
There are things more important than that, and people using Old Trafford and MUFC as a tourist venue, and not caring about United is a joke.
---------
Prefer to be in League Two and about 10K going but all loyal singing fans, instead of the joke what we have now.
--------
I want United to be successful. I want United to win everything they compete in.
What's wrong with the above 3?
Comment 1: There are more important things than signing good players every year. Keeping up the foundations and style which Matt Busby pumped into our club, surely comes before getting all the top names? Look at the souless, passionless club which is Chelsea.
And people do use Old Trafford as a tourist venue, and they are a joke tbh. Not fans.
Comment 2: I meant about support. The League Two was to empathsise my point. Less successful and keep the passion of MUFC, or become souless like Chelsea?
Comment 3: Doesn't everyone want United to be succesful? WHat are you on about here?
I don't know where to start with those three comments. So I let them talk for themselves.
Above.
And its funny you bring up Barcelona. But since you seem to know a lot about them there's no need to remind you the club is one of those membership owed club where each member got one vote and not a one rich man's toy like Manchester United or Chelsea.
Also Barcelona have a political and patriotic symbol in Eastern part of Spain, in the Catalan region. The slogan of the club is something like “mes que un club†– more then a football club.
And we don't have to go through the history of Spain with the civil war, Franco and the big bad Madrid where the power have govern the region.
In Barcelona you also see how the president Laporta runs is *ss off to please the members with summer signings or else the white hanky will fly around Camp Nou. So there's almost as many boo as cheering at Camp Nou.
Barcelona? I don't care about Barcelona. We played them last season at Old Trafford, and it was the best support seen at Old Trafford for years (from United fans). Meaning we can do it when we want to. I don't get why your giving me a lecture on the history of Barcelona, when it has nothing to do with the discussion.
But I fully agree the one attending United games could make more noise. This problem has been going on for a long time. We all remember Keano's prawn sandwiches- statement.
Exactly. And everyone else picks up on the prawny brigade and tarnish every fan with the same brush. Some of these opposition "fans" need to put an ear to Stretford End 2 every game.
Even clubs like Newcastle have a louder crowd.
Yes, but our singers are spread out amongst the ground. Our stadium vocals are crap and all the noise goes out the ground (unless everyone sings). But that's for another discussion.
And you ask how a local builder can afford to buy a season ticket for a grand. It's a rip off for sure and that's what comes with our American sugar daddy.
I can't tell how the hard core builder can afford £1000 for a season ticket but I can tell that one of my old class mates who are a die hard fan of a team 1000km away from here fly's every home game to see their home games. Maybe he or she has to give up a lot of things to be able to pay that £1000 for the season ticket.
