dear poster's please forgive me, as i have sinned it's been 25 years since my last confession.

as some of you know my oldest lad is seven and a very keen and talented little footballer. he is at stockport county youth acadamy and he also does a bit of training with man city. while training with city earlier this week he was given tickets for today's game. yes you know what's coming next, he asked me to take him to take the game. (like me he's a red) obviously being a red i didn't want to take him, but him being seven he just wanted to see a football match, so as always i eventually gave in to him. (the grounds 5 mins from my house)

for those of you who don't know the score, city won the game 3-1 and i have to say they played some really good football. they are now just 1 point behind us and 3rd in the league, they also have some good player's in, elano, petrov, richards,,bianchi, corluka some good young players in ireland, johnson, onouha and 3 decent keeper's wth a decent squad. and a top manager in sven, with a chairman who's willing to spend big.

do you think they will break into the top 4 this season? or do you think they will be a mid table team? i'd really like to hear your thoughts on this

cheers:)

Forgive him Lord for he knows not what he said !!! :D
Its ok AC we forgive you. A free ticket is still a free ticket in fairness. Think we had another thread on this so Ill just copy and paste what my reply was:

City are unfortunately on the up. Sven has come in and done extremely well in a short time. The extra money helps and he has made some excellent signings (Petrov, Elano, Geovanni etc). Putting Richards in beside Dunne was a great move and they are flanked by Corluka and Garrido who seem solid enough. They are also giving youth a chance with Johnson, Schmeichal, Onouha and Ireland. who have all done well.
Sven has a little black book full of connections so he will be able to get in decent players from all around the globe and the extra funds help big time. They may not be pretty to watch all of the time but they will be up challenging for Europe for years to come imo.
Nothing wrong with that mate, as long as your lad is happy thats what's most important.

And yeah, City have improved this season but I don't see it leading them anywhere good unless they sign 3 or 4 quality players.
i think the top 4 is out of their reach this season........i think theyll be around 5th to 8th

Which would be a great achievement for them in fairness. They were rubbish under Pearce and before Sven came in I had a hunch they might go down this season. Before he bought all his new players, which he assembled in no time, Distin and Barton had been sold. Arguably 2 of their best players. But in fairness to then the guys that came in have excelled. I predict they will get 5th/6th this season.
Petrov, nothing special
Richards, hes practically red
Johnson, some quality there
Elano, with him there just a one man team.

Nothing to frighten us.

Petrov is world class, So is Elano and Richard, Bojinov will be the best buy when he gets fit, They got a top-class team and areay from being a 'one man team'

Agreed but dont forget Richie Dunne as well. Their player of the season for the last 2/3 years.
cole9, only god can forgive this sin , what has happened to this forum, united fans
cheating and rivals joining, god help us! lol
i think they will get a place in europe
I feel Man City can grab a UEFA cup spot - hope not - but in players such as Elano and Petrov it's quite possible. And with the strength between the sticks(this Jo Hart doesn't seem to be a pushover!) they have a good foundation for the future.

Petrov is not world class, Elano isn't either. They're good players, nothing more, nothing less.

Richards has the potential to be, hence he'll leave for a much bigger club in the next 2 years.
world class is a term which is mentioned way to often nowadays
When mates or family members have free tickets to a game I always go if I can. I just love watching football!

I've been to watch Preston at Deepdale, Blackpool at Bloomfield Road, Crewe Alex at the Alexandra Stadium, Everton at Goodison Park (they were playing against United but I was sat with the home fans) but the one that really, really annoys my Liverpool supporting mates is that I've been in one of the executive boxes at Anfield!

It was for an FA Cup 6th round replay between Liverpool and Leeds and my elder brothers company were wining and dining one of their clients. He had a couple of spare tickets so invited me and my younger brother. Unfortunately, I kept going on about how I didn't rate McManaman because he never played well for England and didn't score enough goals...he scored 2 in a 3-0 win for Liverpool. D'oh!
Ive a confession as well. I was at Anfield in '96 or so to watch them play Chelsea. They won 2-0 but it was a terrible game, surprise surprise. My footie team was on a trip and it was between Anfield and OT. Since the manager was a bindipper he decided on Anfield much to my disgust. I have NEVER forgiven him.
I have been to several Man City matchs and i enjoyed them.... Why not it is football after all. My Dad is a city fan and gets the tickets. I have seen City Vs United United Vs City City Vs Fulham and City Vs Arsenal. Two draws and 2 defeats. :D For City that is.
my lad as just confirmed to me that he is not happy with just visiting old trafford and eastlands (city of manchester stadium) he also wants to see other grounds . starting at bolton then wigan (dont ask me why those 2)

I've been past the Reebok on the train a few times and it looks like a great stadium.

If you take him to the JJB you have to buy him a pie - Wigan are famous for their pies (and for getting beaten 4-0 by United on a regular basis :D )
