Defender Leaves United
Adam Eckersley has joined League One strugglers Port Vale.
The 22-year-old defender, who had a loan spell at Vale Park cut short in October
because of a knee injury, has moved to Vale Park on a permanent deal.
"They told me before my injury they would like to renew my loan, and obviously
with the injury I couldn't come back for six weeks, but I believe we have a got a
good chance of staying up in League One and I am happy to be back, it is a good
club with good people here," Eckerskey told Vale's official website.
"I was disappointed when I had to go back injured, but then again, that's football
for you. Injuries are just part of the game and I picked myself up from that and
will just carry on.
"My knee feels strong now and I just need to get my fitness back because I
haven't played for six weeks, but once I get back training I should be fine.
"I will try my best for the team and obviously I am a defender so I will try to help
out as regards the team not conceding goals.
"It is a new thing for me. I have been at Manchester United since I was 9 years
old and I have left there now, so I just want to get on with my career and
hopefully play senior football over the next couple of years."
