To be fair, barking dogs never bite is not totally true; seldom is more apt, especially when it is done voluntarily, like in Drogba's case.

I read it more as a pathetic cover up for his sissified antic and to absolve himself from all blame for the Cup defeat (noting that he is well aware of the sentiments amongst some Chelski fans). Suddenly talking about how macho he should have acted or will act when given an opportunity (in his book) is a sure give away. My whatever little respect for him as one of the best centre forwards in the business just evaporated into thin air.

Try a true mad dog like Keano instead. He just bites. End of.

Btw I would reckon Drogba stands no chance against Rooney, a boxer like Keano. I thought he would have a fair chance against Vidic but after his comments, I doubt he even dares to try it in the first place (so perhaps he has to say it to boost his own ego).

Conclusion: A loser.

Drogba could face FA sanction over his wish to punch Vidic

Didier Drogba is facing a reprimand from the FA over comments in his autobiography saying he wished he had punched Nemanja Vidic during the Champions League final.
The Chelsea striker was sent off in the final in May for slapping the Manchester United defender and in his book said he wishes he had punched Vidic.
The FA take a dim view of current players making such comments, and will see whether Drogba may have brought the game into disrepute.
An FA spokesman said: ‘We are aware of the comments and will be examining them in their proper context.'
It is understood the FA are not viewing it in the same light as Roy Keane's book, in which the former United skipper said he had deliberately injured Alf Inge Haaland.
Back in 2002, Keane was banned for five games and fined £150,000 by the FA but similar disciplinary action is unlikely to be taken against Drogba — who may simply be warned.
Drogba wrote: ‘I have seen the match on video and I believe I should not have been sent off with three minutes to go. If I had punched him, I would have understood. Now I wish I had.'
