Cant find the Scholes quotes specifically but Hogdson compares him to Fabregas for Spain which is as advanced as a midfielder can get and that's how Hogdson said he sees him. He talked somewhere about not knowing why he hasn't scored as many as Scholes (:ROFL::ROFL:)

cant find the link to Allardyce himself saying directly he was a "false 9" but reporters alluded to it after the match and he mentioned how impressive his finishing ability was which made him decide to put him furthest forward in the formation. The Tottenham goal was a text book false 9 goal.

And Delph is still pretty inconsistent, imo. Not sure he has been better then Cleverley even this season regularly.
This is bollocks. He's been excellent in every single game, he's won the club's player of the month every month so far this season! He's been voted man of the match in almost every game too. It's not best of a bad bunch either, he's genuinely looked good regardless of what the rest of the team has done.

As expected, Carrick and Welbeck have withdrawn from the squad.

No replacements have been called up.

With Carrick out injured Morrison should really be getting a call up. He deserves it.
Hodgson has pretty much said that he sees it as a choice of Barkley or Ravel in terms of selection into the squad. Seems stupid tbh given what both are capable of, especially comparing them to Milner and Henderson but Hodgson is Hodgson.

Clyne should be given more of a chance. If he was playing with a Champions League/Europa League side he could arguably be England's right back.

I really hope that after the World Cup next summer that Roy decides to pave way the likes of Cole, Lampard, Gerrard and the other older players and start fresh again.

England have got a heck of a lot of young players coming through that should be getting worked with in the senior side in the next year or so.

Jones, Smalling, Caulker, Shaw, Clyne, Ward Prowse, Barkley, Hughes, Morrison, Wilshere, Chabolah, Powell, Zaha, Ince, Sterling, Ox, Welbeck and Sturridge are all young and improving and they should be blooded into the national side on a regular basis over the next couple years with the senior players like Hart, Baines, Carrick and Rooney still in the squad.

If we don't take Morrison to the world cup, its a travesty, he's the wild card we need. Shit, hes the wild card United need.

We need a few experienced guys but i would put as much emphasis on youth as possible. Also we need we need players who are tidy in possession otherwise we'll be chasing shadows in the heat of brazil and be knackered by the knockout rounds. I would also consider taking morrison, as we are lacking someone that might provide a flash of genius in the final third.
