Cameroon striker a brighter prospect than Ronaldinho
Milan have revealed that striker Samuel Eto'o features higher on the San Siro summer shopping list than his Barcelona team-mate Ronaldinho.
The Serie A giants are ready to revamp their squad in the close-season following a disappointing campaign which saw the club record a fifth-placed domestic finish and fail to qualify for next year's UEFA Champions League.
Barcelona are prepared to listen to offers for Eto'o and Ronaldinho as new manager Pep Guardiola looks to make his mark on his inherited side.
However, Milan - who have been long-term admirers of Ronaldinho - have confessed that Cameroon forward Eto'o is now a more attractive target than the two-time Fifa World Player of the Year.
"We need Ronnie less than Eto'o," said Milan general manager Ariedo Braida.
Zambrotta departure
"Eto'o is a great player, but it won't be easy because I suspect we'll have to pay a lot of money. Anyway, everything is possible in soccer."
Meanwhile, Milan have confirmed they only need to agree a fee for Barca defender Gianluca Zambrotta in order to capture the Italy international.
"Now, the difference is only in terms of price," added Braida when asked about Zambrotta.
And while Zambrotta - who moved to the Camp Nou in 2006 from Juventus - admits it will be a wrench to leave Spain, the 31-year-old confesses he is keen to return to Italy.
Zambrotta said: "I'm happy in Spain and Barcelona is a great club with which you can take on great challenges, but the desire to return to Italy is always strong."
Barcelona are also chasing the signatures of Sevilla midfielder Seydou Keita and Manchester United defender Gerard Pique.
- It looks like Milan have finally understood that some of their players are a wee bit old and that walking sticks are against Fifa regulations. Kaka, Pato, Pirlo and Eto'o...sounds quite formidable to me. They might be quite dangerous, if they add another one or two young, quality players.
I would want us to avoid having to play them next season......wait aminut....WE DON'T! A hahahahahahahahahahahaha
