Evra or Clichy...

Dont think this has been discussed before, so....
I have regular arguments with my friend (an arsenal fan!) who is adamant Clichy is better than Evra... but i strongly disagree, i truly believe Evra is a better LB than Clichy, and thats an unbiased opinion, although i do believe they are quite similar players.

Is there anyone who can give an honest, unbiased opinion on this much debated issue!?

I would say that Clichy is slightly more consistent but an on form Evra is better.

Evra edges it for me, though Clichy is younger and will probably reach Evra's level if not surpass it in a few years.

My mate is a Gunner aswell, he likes Clichy and i think Evra is better.....
Clichy wasnt even brought to Euro 08, thats shows that Evra is better.
Evra is our best Left back since Steady Denis Irwin

Clichy wrecked Arsenals Season at home against Birminham near the end of the season,
he gave away the penelty in the last minute!!
Arsenal never got back on track after that!
Rosicky even said this himself about his own team mate!!
He has good feet but not a good head YET!!
but he is young

Yes all my mates that are Liverpool and Arsenal fans think Clichy is better. I wouldnt base my opinion on evra being in the French squad Domenech is a fool but I still think evra is well better

All United fans are gonna say Evra, All Arsenal fans are gonna say Clichy.

The only person who can solve this is Silvestre.

If he plays instead of Clichy then Evra must be the best cause Silvestre couldnt get in front of Evra

i think Silvestre has been promised first team football..... where will he fit in?
what you think keano016?? Wenger might slip him in at center half, thats his fav position but Gallas and toure have that nailed, then sagna and clichy have both backs. where is his promised first team???

I think silvestre might slip in at centre-back so Toure can move to midfield and play as a defensive midfielder

Centre Backs an option but I dont think thats his best position.

He's played there a few times for us but I dont think he played that great.

what are peoples reasons for the better player?
one of the reason why i think evra is better is because he's up n down the wing all the time, overlapping & supporting whoever is playin on the wing...
yes clichy sometimes does the same, i just think evra is more effective

Evra has better positional sense, a better slide tackler, better leap/headers,
not sure who is quicker but both VERY fast.
Evra has more experience and started off as a left winger which gives him the
edge over Clichy going forward. There isnt much between them ...
Evra won best LB in 06/07 and Clichy last season, though I think Evra should
have won that too. Clichy is younger and can get better but imo Evra is the
best Lb in the world. I can say that without a hint of bias.

Without doubt Evra.For now. But as been said I believe Clichy does have excellent potential, but how many players over the years have had....potential???!
Also MS is an EXCELLENT signing for the Arsewipes.

Evra is better now, but Clichy has the potential to be better. He's younger than Evra and on his day, as good as Evra. He's physically stronger, fast, defends well and is dangerous going forward.

There's not much between the two, but I do notice Evra making more key interventions, which is why he still is slightly better than Clichy, but if Clichy worlks hard, he can be better than Evra.

clichy is physically stronger, maybe a tiny bit faster than evra, but evra is better in every other field.

Evra has actually amazed me at points, and he's one of my favorite people to watch on the pitch. Clichy hasn't really amazed me but he's a solid fullback nonetheless. Its splitting hairs, imo on who's better, as they're both tremendous players and probably the two best in the world at their position.
