Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has lifted the lid on his simmering row with Kevin Davies, claiming the Bolton striker's apparent dislike for him is ‘bizarre'.

An ongoing clash between the two was the most interesting subplot of Saturday's shock 1-0 win for Wanderers at The Reebok Stadium, and the treatment dished out to United's Frenchman infuriated Sir Alex Ferguson who was sent to the stands for his protests at half-time.

Davies was the prime culprit as he felled Evra on a number of occasions and earned himself a yellow card in the process, but the United defender also thundered into a challenge on his opponent as well in the first half.

Evra has now explained how Davies has borne a grudge against him for a year, and that he was furious with the treatment he received at the hands of Gary Megson's side.

"I received more tackles than I've had in my life,†said Evra.

"It was the same last year when he kicked me as well. I said to him then: 'Why do you do a tackle like that?' and he said: 'Because I don't like you'.

"I didn't understand it. Here he did it again. I think his first tackle on me should have been a red card.

"I don't know what the problem is with Davies, because I don't know him. It's bizarre.

"I was very angry. The captain and the others said to me: 'You need to concentrate on the game, you must not react to a bad tackle like that'.

"I also said to the referee: 'You can't play football like that — this is not a football game'.

"When I play football I do it to play the ball, not to kick somebody. And I keep my eyes on the ball."

Yeah, you're a little out of the way Georgie.

I remember reading something that Evra once made a bad tackle on him and that it "could've ended his career". He's held the grudge since.

I don't remember where I read it though...

No thats Sagna from Arsenal when Evra was a Monaco player and Sagna was at Auxerre. Sagna's dad is the one that holds the grudge!! :D :D

I dont get why everyone is freaking out at Davies. Its a mans game and he's a tough player....big deal I say. Evra always gives as good as he gets and can look after himself. It refreshing to see players like Davies still plugging away in the league.

Thierry Henry once said that he was the best striker in the league for pure nuisance factor, strength, heading ability and holding up the ball amongst other things.

Ok Davies made a few dodgy tackles but thats part and parcel of the game. In Sunday league football or astro park its perfectly normal carry on......

lol! classic chiboy! you roolz!

Davies was being a prick and muscling him out the game, but he took it too far. He should have been off. I am severely unimpressed by clattenburg's smiles at the bolton players. Perhaps were getting Chelsea Syndrome? Get no decisions?

I agree.......premiership is a physical place...Going down to Bolton and Portsmouth etc.etc. and getting results is what makes champions......

Playing foul, dirty - you call it refreshing !!!! Davies wasn't playing football !! Rather targeting our left back for no good reason !

If he'd had broken his leg or left Evra sidelined for the season I promise you, you really wouldn't have said that!!!

People cry foul over Anderson when he waves the imaginary card around or rolls a few times to many But Davies targets Evra, we get members call it refreshing !!! That is a joke !!!

Ok before you all get on my case, I think he had a great game today and played very well but I have a problem......
I often criticise other players from other teams for diving or trying to get oppostion players booked but when I saw Anderson rolling around the floor today and trying to get players booked I was embarassed by his behaviour. It was pretty disgraceful I think. At least Edwin got in there to calm things down.
Am I on my own here or does anyone feel the same as myself?
Your thoughts please.

But it is fine for Davies to target Evra.

I watched the game Kevin Davies should of been sent off for that foul, I'd love to slide tackle him and injure him if I catch him walking down a street and see if he likes it. Dirty hacking bastard.

Or if I walked down the street, saw him and slied tackled him and broke his leg and if he asks me why I did it, I would just say, I don't like you and I just felt like attacking someone, then he wouldn't like it.

I'm pretty sure that if did that in broad daylight then I'd be arrested for GBH, if I was Patrice, I'd take legal action, you can just attack someone for no reason, go to the police Patrice, get him locked up and let him rot in jail, for the rest of the season.

I can see where you're coming from, but Davies wasn't exactly getting just "physical", some of his tackles were horrific. You call it refreshing the way Davies played on Saturday, if Evra had picked up an injury, I'm sure you'd have been on the grumbling side. I admire the way Bolton usually played under Big Sam, but they were going over the top against us, some decisions that went against us were ridiculous.

But we should just forget the shit and move on, we're the champions after all.

Agreed!! Someone that believes in playing football, not a violent grudge match!

I didnt actually say that. I said it was refreshing to still see players like him in the league in general. I wasnt talking about Saturday itself. Obviously he went in a bit hard on Evra, but Evra gave as good as he got.

Thanks AG for going to all that trouble......

I was talking about Davies as a player in general not just about his performance on Saturday. He plays hard and he plays to win, just like Keane, Vieira and many many more. I dont see why you are bringing up my old Anderson thread to compare these two issues
Anderson is young and acted pretty badly, rolling around like he got shot and waving cards about. I really dont like this trait in players. I think its awful but he WILL learn in time, and I understand that. I wont get into this again. I only started that thread to instigate debate.
Davies on the other hand is an old school type player who loves to get stuck in and puts his head where it hurts. I admire players like that. Yes he played hard and maybe dirty on Evra but Davies got his punishment (a yellow) so lets leave it at that.
I prefered football when it was a mans game with a few crunching tackles going in. Thats how I play and its what I expect in return, no big deal, take the rough with the smooth I say. Football has nearly turned into a non contact sport for fairies ;)
I still stand by what I said before........

No Davies is certainly no Keane or Vieira. How can you compare them? Keane and company are classes above. So maybe just because Joey Barton can pack a crunching tackle or pack a punch – which he has done before – that makes him a Keane or Vieira??

I bring up the Anderson issue because you go on about his antics like he broke a player's leg. Fair enough I don't agree with Anderson's behavior to a certain extent!

But it appears to be ok for Davies to target Evra!!! Davies played dirty – he's the new Keane. Maybe we should sign too!! As Evra said he should have seen Red! Indeed he should! Filthy player that you call the new “Keaneâ€. I dare not imagine how foul you play/played football!!

If the situation did arise where Evra got seriously injured and it can happen, I very much doubt you would have said that!!! In fact I would have bet my life on it!!

Now if that had been Anderson trying to target a player, we would have heard the same like you did after Arsenal eh!!

I said Davies plays hard and plays to win like Keane. Thats the only comparison I made. You should spend a bit more time actually reading what I write as opposed to making assumptions.

You go on as if I hate Anderson..... I made a thread about his antics once, and most people actually agreed with what I said. I think Anderson will become a great player at OT and its exciting times for him and the fans. I have nothing against him except for his bad habits which Fergie will stamp out in time.

Im not sure why you keep giving me a hard time about your God, when even you yourself dont agree with his behaviour. See in bold above......
