Not just a forwards' coach - Ferdinand signs up to be 'strikers' consultant' at Tottenham

Les Ferdinand has joined Harry Redknapp's White Hart Lane revolution as Tottenham's forward coach.
The former England forward, 41, will give specialist coaching to the club's attack and his appointment comes a week after Harry Redknapp added ex-Spurs midfielder Tim Sherwood to his backroom staff.
The job title 'strikers' consultant' is reminiscent of Dennis Wise's much-derided moniker 'executive director (football).'

Les will be getting involved,' said the manager. 'I will speak to him about coming in and working with the strikers.

I had a similar arrangement at Portsmouth, when Luther Blissett came in and helped the forwards during the 2003-04 season. Yakubu had been having a difficult time in front of goal, but after Luther came in, he ended up finishing the season by scoring 11 goals in ten matches.'
Ferdinand will be tasked with providing support and advice to Spurs forwards Darren Bent, Roman Pavlyuchenko, Giovani Dos Santos and on-loan Fraizer Campbell.

Redknapp will make changes for tomorrow's UEFA Cup tie against Dinamo Zagreb, with Jermaine Jenas and Ledley King likely to miss out through injury, Vedran Corluka and Roman Pavlyuchenko cup-tied and Jamie O'Hara suspended.
He will include John Bostock among the substitutes, which means 16-year-old could make his debut for the club after his acrimonious move from Crystal Palace during the summer.
Bostock, who played his first game for Palace last season aged 15 years and 287 days, could cost Spurs as much as £1.25million if he is a success at White Hart Lane.
Redknapp said: 'I hope there is a chance to put him on tomorrow. I saw him for Crystal Palace, and he looked a terrific young talent, with a lovely left foot. How far John progresses in the game will be up to him.'

I think its a clever move by Harry but I doubt it will solve all the problems at Spuds.
