Sir Alex Ferguson remains hopeful of adding to his Manchester United squad before the close of the transfer window.
With less than a week of the window remaining, the Premier League champions have yet to make any high-profile signings over the summer.
A striker is Ferguson's priority, with Tottenham Hotspur's unsettled Bulgarian international Dimitar Berbatov reported to be the top target.
Berbatov was left out of the Spurs squad for last weekend's defeat by Sunderland and has expressed a wish to move to Old Trafford.
Ferguson has not commented on the speculation concerning Berbatov, but is working to improve his attacking options.
Wait and see
He believes United's 1-0 win at Portsmouth on Monday night demonstrated the strength of his squad, but he is aiming to recruit a player before the deadline.
"There is only a week to go and you start to concern yourself a little bit," Ferguson told Sky Sports 1.
"I think we showed we have got good quality.
"We would like to add obviously, but we just have to wait and see what happens."
