The Brazilian has broken into the first team and performed well enough to be worthy of a regular start since signing from Porto last summer in a £19million deal.

"Anderson has exploded on to the scene for us and been absolutely phenomenal," said Ferguson. "We're really pleased with his progress and the evidence is there for all to see.

"When Scholes got his last injury it opened the door for Anderson, and we discovered a boy who had talent. It may otherwise have turned out that Anderson would have had to wait, just getting the odd game here and there, which may not have helped him develop as we have seen."

Everyone knows that Anderson had been brought to United as a long term heir to Paul Scholes. Now the manager has conceded that though the players share traits in common, Anderson is not a like-for-like replacement.

"He isn't entirely like Scholes, although there are similarities," Ferguson said of the 19 year old. "He's more of an aggressive running player. He’s quicker than Scholes, more of the type to run forward from midfield with the ball, whereas Scholes will do it without the ball."

Anderson has started 12 Premiership games for United since last October and has also appeared in FA Cup and Champions League matches.
The only bad memory in a season of success is United’s League Cup result at home to Coventry when the youngster’s lacklustre performance was criticised sharply.

Anderson’s subsequent emergence has put pressure on United veteran Paul Scholes and last season’s star Michael Carrick, especially when Ferguson opts to play two in midfield.
Apparently Hargreaves knows that he won't get much games with united's midfield power

“I know you are not going to start every game because you look at the players we’ve got and you know we’ve got options," said Hargreaves. "We can play different styles and I think everybody would like to play every game, but physically you are not going to be at your best if you do, and it is an opportunity for the others to play.

"Everybody knows there is a bigger picture when you play for United. There is a lot at stake and it is not a case of being dropped. We just play in different styles and it will benefit us in the long run.

"To be at this club, with this manager and the fans, is where I want to be. I measure myself against the best and hopefully I will be here for a long time. When you play, you’ve got to play well. It’s as simple as that. And even if you play well, you still might not play the next game."

Fergie is absolutely right...anderson is a truly wonderful and gifted player!!!

At the start of the season a few football pundits (including Paddy Crerand) said they thought Anderson would have broken into the first team on a regular basis by the end of this season.

Although I'd heard a lot of good things about him I was sceptical that he could make the break through in his 1st season.

Anderson has proved all the doubters wrong this season - the 'Brazilians can't make it in the Prem' brigade, the 'he's too young' brigade and the 'Anderson who?' brigade. (I was in the 'he's too young bracket' :p )

He really is an exceptionally talented young man and has the potential to be one of the top midfielders in World football. He needs to add goals to his game but when he starts banging them in he'll evolve into the complete midfielder imo.

He'll be a star player in two seasons when he
hits top form, IMO. Terrific lad and hopefully
he'll take all this praise on board to
strengthen his performances!

He's a completely different player from the one I anticipated when we first signed him. For his age, he is so controlled and matured. With a brilliant passing range, spot on from Fergie, fantastic signing.

One of the best midfielders in the world at the moment (top 10 for his perfomances) and can go further in time. He could only be better if he scored more and was 6ft :p

anderson has been plain and simply a revelation since he came here. His terrific passing range is alos complemented by his strength at holding the ball and skill in tight situations. he can also tackle which cancels out scholes's superior goalden touch in front of goal. But he's only 19 and just like fabregas he should develop that to his game. Great signing he certainly appears to be
