Presume this is a United XI as we play in the cup a few days later. We should not be going halfway around the world for a friendly mid season. Excuse slow typing, grandson on my knee!! He is trying to kick the keyboard into next week.

This is the silly fixture that everyone else turned down i think we were about the 6the club to be asked and as such our greed accepted. It will be a united XI but they will be expecting cameo's from some of the bigger ones for the amount they are paying us

We had that friendly against a World XI for charity last season and it didn't do any harm.

But that didn't entail leaving the country and playing in a hot climate. Playing in Saudi Arabia will tire the players out.

Hopefully the 'stars' United take will be the likes of Fletcher and O'Shea. It'll be a nice little holiday for them.

United's £1m desert storm

So for this, we are travelling afar abruptly, right in the middle of the season, disrupting our preparation, risking fatigue, and before our important FA Cup tie against Spurs. How wise...  :(

Manchester United to Saudi Arabia tonight to kickstart a trend which will become familiar for Premier League clubs.

United are being paid £1million for Monday's friendly in Riyadh and plans for competitive games are being discussed for the next overseas TV deal.

Premier League officials want clubs to play at least one match abroad each season - especially in the Far East. Spokesman Dan Johnson said: "There is nothing concrete at this stage."

Can someone who knows give me some info about the game? they are down 3-2 and ronaldo and tevez scored, so:S. They probably dont fight so much but hey.
Well its a friendly so United have made about 6/7 subs.
The ref wants Al-Hilal to win. he has awarded them 2 dodgy penalties.
Tevez got a nice goal after great work by Ronnie.
Ronnie also scored a free header.
We dont seem to bothered and there arent many tackles going in.
Just as I say that we get a penalty. Danny Wellbeck to take it and he blazed it over on his senior debut.
Lets get the boys home and bring on Spurs.....
