Great news for us considering we could potentially be playing them another four times this season.
BBC SPORT | Football | Europe | Gallas will miss rest of season
Arsenal defender William Gallas will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury sustained in the Gunners' 1-1 Champions League draw at Villarreal.

The 31-year-old damaged the medial ligament in his right knee during a collision with striker Giuseppe Rossi.

Goalkeeper Manuel Almunia has been ruled out for three weeks after he injured his right ankle.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has also lost Gael Clichy with a back injury that will keep him out for two weeks.

Strikers Robin van Persie and Eduardo (both groin) will undergo fitness tests on Friday before Saturday's Premier League match at Wigan.

In Gallas's absence, Wenger is likely to call upon Johan Djourou as Kolo Toure's partner in the centre of Arsenal's defence.

Mikael Silvestre is also available after injury, while Alexandre Song has filled in at centre-half in the past.

Gallas stayed on the field for several minutes after the challenge with Rossi before limping off and being replaced by Djourou in the 43rd minute.

Almunia was replaced by Lukasz Fabianski after 28 minutes at El Madrigal, also following a clash with Rossi.

And Wenger is pessimistic about his first-choice goalkeeper's chances of recovering for next Wednesday's second-leg encounter at the Emirates Stadium.

"Manuel is a recurrence of an ankle injury, which probably will be a couple of weeks," said Wenger.

Big plus for Liverpool too. They play in two weeks time, Almunia will be missing then too.

Then again, Gerrard is having tests done to suss if he picked or aggravated something against Chelsea. He could very well be looking at a spell out too:eek:

Gallas is a big loss for Arsenal..
Almunia out for 3 weeks and Clichy out for 2 weeks aswell..
I kind of fancied Arsenal in the CL this season, because of them being on form now..
But i'd be very worried if i was an Arsenal Fan for the return leg against Villareal now..!

Well it's a shame for Arsenal but frankly I think Gallas is easily the 2nd most dislikable footballer in England.

Right behind Ashley Cole. Imagine if Chelsea had kept Gallas & Terry when they bought Ashey.

It would've been the world's most obnoxious back four.

indeed. a really big loss.
djourou is good, but he's very inconsistent, whereas silvestre somehow, it seems, has completely looked out of sorts whenever he played.
if song moves to centre half, they would miss his imposing presence in midfield.

it's a big loss for them, and could proove pivotal in the game against them in may at old trafford, and for a possible semi-final in the champions leage. realy hope we avoid injuries now when we're so close to the finish line.

He's pretty much a cancer in the dressing room, that's why his armband was yanked, but they really don't have anyone who comes close to his ability to replace him with. They'll probably beat Villarreal at home still, and should beat Porto in the next round IF we don't do the business. If we eek through and play Arsenal in the manner we played Porto we could get humbled by them again.

Then again, we could also smash Porto and hit a run of form and beat Arsenal 6-0 over two legs....
