Neville made his long awaited comeback tonight.
Having had trouble with his ankle, calf and thigh he has only appeared in one game for United since March. That was in November for the reserves.

Tonight he captained the team against Everton reserves and he scored a goal. It did take a couple of deflections but I doubt he will mind
Neville has only found the net 7 times in his United career.

The game finished 2-2 in what was a very wet night in Widnes.

Neville was taken off at half time as he continues his comeback.

Great to see him back in a United shirt and hopefully he will be back in the first team soon. He is our captain and a true red. Cant wait to see him bombing down the wing past Ronaldo.:)

Lets hope this time he is back for good.

Am very happy for him, that will surely boost his confidence a bit more in coming back to the first team. Why oh why didnt i watch the game...always wanted to see him score one, the last time, even i cant remember when.

I still think he needs more reserve matches before finally having a go back in the squad, in saying that, thankfully he didnt suffer any futher injury. That is all i ask for ;)

Something's terribly wrong! Gary Neville scored?

Must have been someone in a Gary Neville costume :D

I flicked onto the reserve game from time to time but I was watching the 1985 FA Cup Final on ESPN.

It's been revealed that G Neville was taken off at half-time due to a tight muscle and is unlikely to be included in the squad to face Newcastle...

"Gary's hamstring was a bit tight at half-time in the Reserves game the other night. The weather conditions were appalling and the pitch was very heavy so we decided to take him off. Nevertheless, it was a good start for him.
