Ryan Giggs has risked the wrath of wantaway
Manchester United team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo
by questioning the motives of players who chase
big-money transfers.

In an interview with GQ magazine, Giggs said:
"Many players want to make as much money as
they can and change teams for ten grand.

"How is that going to make much difference to their lives?
Foreign players always have their home somewhere else,
so they are going to have their eyes on going back.

"But for the likes of me, Gary Neville and Paul Scholes, this is our home."

Giggs said he would understand if fans are appalled
by the actions of money-motivated players.

"Yeah, I would. If you get those players on their own they are good lads.

"So a lot of the blame has to go on their advisors and
agents who make a lot of money out of these deals
and don't have the interests of the player at heart."

Giggs, by contrast, has been at United since his 14th birthday
and broke Sir Bobby Charlton's all-time appearance record
when he played his 759th game for the club in the
Champions League final victory over Chelsea in May.

Interesting read...

... I think that is aimed directly at Ronaldo and no one else. I've got a feeling that
the players are uneasy with him around the club and unless he bucks up they
won't be happy.

Take now for example, Ronaldo has had an ankle operationa nd is on crutches.
Where would you think to see someone like this? At home, resting?

Well this "world class player" is off in bleedin LA doing media work! Does he think
he's Becks??

If that was Wayne Rooney he'd snap his crutches in anger for getting injured, and
drag himself to the gym in Carrington and work out suffering the pain for his club!
(Bit OTT? :p lol)

I'd love to know whats going on in some of their minds right now....

Ronaldo, signed for United from Portugal....
...intending going back to the area, Spain (It's close to Portugal!)

Giggsy doesn't seem pleased from those comments though TBH..

Giggs=Legend. Anything he says is usually spot on.
This is aimed at Ronaldo and he is dead right.
Hopefully he gives Ron a few slaps around the place when he sees him.

Every other footballer expect for Paul Scholes.
Who on MUFC has ever seeked a big money move away from OT other than Becks and the Slave? Heinze maybe?

Don't know but I was signalling the fact that most players are only interested in the money.

Except for Paul Scholes. And a few others two, but Scholes is above all. Love Shcoles.

To this day I still don't understand how Rio could ever be captain over Scholesy.

Rightly so. Well said Giggsy. Hope Ronaldo is listening but he is probably too busy posing in front of the cameras in LA. One possibility is maybe Ronaldo was trying to get an improved contract but Fergie and Gill have done well not to give in. Reiterated their stance; RONALDO IS NOT FOR SALE and provided him with the sucker punch "no, your not getting an increase in your wages".

United > Ronaldo.

As for calling himself a slave, slaves do their work, and if they don't harsh
punnishments laid out.

One way or another, there will be a bad taste in someones mouth once it finally
blows over, be it tomorrow or next year..

Rio's a natural leader from the back. Keeping everyone in order.

Scholes doesn't want it. He's said that. Such a great man. Not really a leader either.

Rio has come a long way from his days as a drug-test missing homophobic comment-making party-animal that he used to be:cool:

Love how the article says "Giggs may incur the wrath of Ronaldo."

Giggs doesn't incur anything. It should say "Ronaldo has incurred the scorn of Giggs."

I hardly think Giggsy cares what Ronaldo thinks of him, and I'm glad he spoke his mind.

HALLELUJAH!

Its about time a United player said something like this. Yes, Carrick did say that Man Utd was the place to be. But its not quite as good, is it?

An absolute legend, fantastic player, fantastic man.

But again, like I said in a Giggs thread, no words can describe what we all feel about Giggs.

I, and I'm sure Giggs as well, couldn't care less whether Ronaldo takes this as an insult. Its the truth, and I say well done and thank you Giggs.

We have been lucky enough as a club to have players come through who can't see themselves play for anyone else and consider it a step down in their careers.

Solksjaer, Scholes, Giggs, Neville, even O'Shea are all players who have never tried none of the tricks modern day footballers try to get either wage increase or a lucrative transfer with massive golden handshake.

Giggs and United were offered crazy money by Inter too, and he didn't ever dream of leaving, and we never dreamed of selling him. Something CR7 will probably never understand.
