Fergie slams Glazer criticism
Manager happy with 'supportive' owners
Sir Alex Ferguson has hit back at criticism of the Glazer family and insists the
Manchester United owners have been 'nothing but supportive'.
The Glazers completed a £790million takeover of United in 2005 and the deal was
met by widespread protest from the Old Trafford faithful.
United supporters have most recently bemoaned high ticket prices, but manager
Ferguson - who was critical of the lack of home support during the New Year's
Day victory over Birmingham - has branded protests 'unfair'.
The United boss is adamant he has an excellent relationship with the Glazers and
has contrasted the Red Devils' stability to the recent uncertainty at other clubs.
Friction
Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez suffered a much publicised bust-up with Anfield
owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks, but Ferguson insists there is no such
problem at Old Trafford.
"At a number of clubs there have been problems with friction between managers
and owners," said Ferguson.
"But you can see how smoothly the United ship is running as far as that is
concerned, despite early hostility over the Glazer family's ownership.
"Those protests were unfair because they weren't given a chance but the Glazers
kept their cool and our owners have been nothing but supportive.
"Good teamwork starts at the top and I am happy to say, that is what we have at
Old Trafford." www.skysports.co.uk
