Reports today are suggesting that Barca have/ will make a bid for highly rated fullback Gerard Pique involving a swap deal for Eidur Gudjohnsen possibly with some cash aswell.
Pique is very highly rated in spain after his loan spell there this season and it seems that Barca are very keen on landing the young defender.

What do people think?? will we miss a player that hasn't been playing for us??
Is he going to be good enough to grab and then keep a place in the UTD side?
I've heard reports coming out of spain that the player would prefer to stay and play in spain, so could we end up with a Reyes on our hands if we force him to return to OT???

Its an interesting one IMO, he's obviosly very talented and young too but as yet untried in the EPL. Gudjohnsen is a quality player and def has the pedigree to play in the EPL as he's proved in recent years playing for the scum, and would definitely be a good addition to the UTD squad without doubt, but is it worth losing Pique to get him??
I'm not too sure too be honest, I like Pique a lot and I think that SAF maybe see's him as a long term replacement for Gary Neville.........

Pique is a classy young player. If he stays with United he will become a permanent feature in defence in years to come along side Evans and possibly Simpson. Im an admirer but I doubt he will get much of a sniff this season. Im a bit surprised Zaragoza offered so much money for him. Since Barca are interested we could maybe swap him for Eto'o ;-)

really don't want Eto'o though. Apparently he's even more moody than Anelka, and that takes some doing!!
I think the fact that Real Z offered £7 mil or so shows how highly he's rated in spain, and if Barca got involved it would only increase the fee.

Forget this, Pique is a quality young player and, athough for years now Gudjohnson would have been a transfer target for me, he's 29 and slowing down. It would be trading young for old. No thanks Frank Rijkaard.

i cant see pique getting a first team place at united with players like brown heinze and silvestre fighting for one so i think pique for gudjonson is a good deal as gudjonson says he wouldnt mind joining man utd

pique doesnt realize how good it is at united, just wait till he says he's lovin it in the premiership
