The Norwegian midfielder who got his breakthrough with the national squad last year after an amazing run for IK Start will be presented on Wednesday according to Norway’s biggest newspaper Verdens Gang.
Former Liverpool player and now the head coach of IK Start, Stig Inge Bjornebye are not to happy about it after only three days as the new head coach after Tom Nordli was sacked.
He told Verdens Gang: “Haestad is maybe the biggest starlet in Norway for the last decade. But he had a buyout clause (£3.2m) so it was nothing we could do. I understand that he wanted the challenge of playing for Man Utd and I wish him the best of luck. But it is a great loss for our clubâ€Â
Start are struggling and may be relegated after a poor season. Last year they lost the Norwegian Premier Division, Tippeligaen, on goal difference to Vaalerenga.
