The Norwegian midfielder who got his breakthrough with the national squad last year after an amazing run for IK Start will be presented on Wednesday according to Norway’s biggest newspaper Verdens Gang.

Former Liverpool player and now the head coach of IK Start, Stig Inge Bjornebye are not to happy about it after only three days as the new head coach after Tom Nordli was sacked.

He told Verdens Gang: “Haestad is maybe the biggest starlet in Norway for the last decade. But he had a buyout clause (£3.2m) so it was nothing we could do. I understand that he wanted the challenge of playing for Man Utd and I wish him the best of luck. But it is a great loss for our clubâ€Â

Start are struggling and may be relegated after a poor season. Last year they lost the Norwegian Premier Division, Tippeligaen, on goal difference to Vaalerenga.

More to come...

Strange. Maybe they are updating the story. It was on the frontpage for about 30 min ago. Bjornebye also talked about it after the game tonight.
I spoke a few person from norway, and they say there is no story of this kind in any norway websites,so it must be a untrue story

As i understand it 'Verdens Gang' is a tabloid newspaper in Norway, so i would find this story very hard to believe...i haven't seen any reference to this player at all, and suddenly he's signing on Wednesday??...makes no sense..

Then again, i've no idea if there's an element of truth to the story..so i can't dismiss it entirely..but i would doubt it as i think that Marcos Senna is on the verge of going to United.

And did you really saw that he said haestad is joining utd

Grosso aint lying.

Bjørnebye told so after the game at the telly. Great player and I think he would be as big as Morten Gamst Pedersen are in the Premier League. He never plays a bad game.

The Senna move isnt progressing very well, its been dismissed as a rumour by people in Villereal..

Heastad would be a very good signing for building a new young United!

haestad

nonsense. I saw bjornebyes interwiev after the game ( which ik start won 2-1 against lyn) and he never mentioned a move for haestad to united. But haestad IS a united supporter so maybe in the future........
